Question about 2004 Dodge Caravan
Hi, I'm getting the error code P0442 with a ODB2 reader from my 2004 Dodge Caravan. What could be the issue. The EGR valve was replace less than 2 weeks ago. Engine size is 3.3L
Code 442 indicates a vapor leak in the EVAP control system. Fuel vapors are routed through hoses to the EVAP charcoal canister, then via purge control valve, are rerouted through intake when engine running. Bad gas cap seal is the usual culprit, which you can try cleaning the seal & filler neck where it screws in, then erase codes & try again & see if it comes back, or may require new gas cap. Other areas to look is at hoses running to & from canister & purge valve for any crack that may be a source of leak.
