Why alternator don't charge on a 1979 ford thunderbird?

If you can use a new wire and they charge the battery then most likely you have a broken wire in the harness that runs between the alternator and the regulator.

Alternator not charging

I believe the regulator for that vehicle is in the PCM ,if it failed you are looking at a $$$$ part. You can use an earlier regulator and leave the control module alone.Like a 1985 diplomat ,have to get the pigtail for the regulator also, then run the 2 white wires to that instead of the PCM

Need to know where and how is battery connected to voltage regulator to alternator in 1999 GMC Sierra?

Most regulators are in the back of the alternator and the 2 wires on the connector are the connection . The big wire to the alternator terminal is connected to the battery .

I own a 1954 Pontiac that currently has the original generator and 3 contact external regulator. I want to convert to an alternator. I need an old school expert to explain how to wire up the anternator.

We usd to rebuild alternators and we would build some of the old style 10SI Delcos with a self-exciting regulator just for this type situation. All you have to do is connect the battery wire to the stud on the alternator and you were good to go. If you can't find anything local Google "1 wire delco alternator" and you'll come up with all kinds of places to buy them. If you want a regular 3 wire they are easy to wire also. You'll need to buy a regulator plug. The regulator terminals are labeled #1 and #2. #1 is wire to a switched ignition source and #2 can be connected to the battery stud on the alternator along with the battery wire.

Surges of 3 to 26 and failures of idle speed

If the Battery is GOOD, the Alternator should produce a near constant of 13 to 13.4 volts at the Battery at all engine speeds. Your fluctuations recorded [if the multimeter is good] would indicate an uncontrolled open circuit from the Alternator, due to Regulator Failure, and a JUNK Alternator. Confirm by taking it to a reputable Accessory Store, where they will Bench Test it for FREE.

01 audi a4 alternator fuse location

For 2001 Audi A4 the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand steering wheel vehicle). On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram. But the alternator don't have any fuse! You can check up electrical connections. If you don't find anything wrong the alternator is out of order. Replace brushes inside, or voltage regulator (see picture below)!
