My sun roof will not work on my 2006 forester what could be wrong with it

If you can't hear anything trying to work when you hit the switch....
I would start by checking the fuse that provides power to the sun roof. Then check the switch. If both are good, you have a bad motor and need to have it replaced.

Restore finish on forester roof rail, sun bleached

This effect is the anodizing deterioration, and cannot be redone. Consider pulling the roof rail off and painting with black epoxy paint.

2001 subaru forester rear tail light moisture

Open the assembly and dry it. I would do so in full sun on a in low humidity and add a clear silicone sealant around the wire connection harness and around the rim of the light cover. The one around the light cover should be thin. If it is still happening, dry it again and place a small amount of baking soda in the assembly. It will settle to the lowest point and should absorb moisture.

Sunroof makes grinding noise when opening 2001 forrester

I had this problem with my Scorpio. If you can open the roof electonically to the full extent, then try to open using the mechanical method. Fully grease all mechanical parts, ( loads of grease ) including the mechanical screws that operate the sunroof. Open and close aout 5 times to spread the grease. Get a tube of KY jelly or Vaslilene and really smear it on the felt (or simular, maybe be rubber) edge beading to allow i to fit snuggly into your roof and making a rain tight, this worked for me, hopefully t will work fo you.

Let me know.

Regards,

Dave

Engine timing for a 1998 subaru forester with a 2.5

Since ignition timing is taken care of by the ECU, I guess you are asking about cam timing.
There are several marks to be aligned and if you get them wrong, you may trash your engine so I am only going to suggest you buy a Haynes service manual that has numerous good pix that show you exactly how to avoid killing your engine. And, unless you have a good-size vice well-mounted, compressing the belt tensioner again is going to give you fits.
The Haynes number you need is 89100 but it is listed only as a manual for the Legacy which uses the same engine but there may be less info that is usable on your '98 forester for which Haynes does not make a specific manual.
The later book that I have, 89101, covers all models from 2000 to 2006.
