I hav a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it engin just dies out while driving


Get some "dielectric" grease and put it on your ecm contacts. Also clean your "grounds" very well. Mine was located on the passenger side of the engine block on my 97' Grand cherokee laradoe. Mine did the same thing yours was. These jeeps are a wiring nightmare for some stupid reason, and this will be your least expensive fix before you start replacing EVERYTHING like i did!. Your shutting off problem does sound like it might be the crank position sensor, which is bolted on the back, upper left side of the 4.0 motor, on the bellhousing. Easy enough to change with some really long extensions and small hands.

If you have zero oil pressure thats a BAD sign, first have a mechanic check what the engines actual oil pressures are.

Oxygen sensor wiring diagram


My 97 cherokee catalytic converter was stolen, oxygen sensor wires cut. the replacement is black, grey and white. the jeepicon1.png is different color. i need help knowing which wires get connected to which.
