Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

1 Answer

Was drivin down the road and car just shut off completely. had absolutely no power. sometimes it will start back up seconds later, sometimes i have to pull over and get out and wiggle the battery cables, then it starts up fine. new alternator, spark plugs, fuel filter, coil pack i cleaned the battery terminal about 3 months ago when it did it before, it stopped after i did, the terminals do NOT look corroded at all. could it be the cables? or just a bad connection?

1998 expedition yesturday was low on fuel got gas drove with headlights on got 4 miles down road vehicle died thought was bad gas 3hrs later vehicle would run but abs light and brake light would flash

There is a problem in the electrics of the vehicle. First place to start is to check the alternator drive belt for condition and tension. Next place is the battery terminals and condition and tension . Third place is to have a load test done on the battery as it may have an internal short and drawing all the current from the alternator. In effect when you add power requirements ( park lights then brake lights then headlights) you are actually using more current than the alternator can supply to keep the engine system running.

Car completely shuts down and acts like battery is dead

When it dies, it won't start back up? Does it crank over after it dies?

It will just shut down and come rite back on line.

Try replacing the brain with a refurbished PCM. Google for the Florida company site and call the guys there and see what they think. I had a similar problem with 99 Durango and bought a refurbished brain for < $300.00 and 3 screws later my car was fixed with no problems since.
