Why my range rover classic tdi 5 speed manual the gearbox getting very hot ?

check the oil level and the type of oil in the gear box. If too much oil -that will make it hot. If too little oil -that will make it hot. IF the oil is not right viscosity -that will make it hot. get a infrared thermometer and read the gear box temperature to get an idea of the oil temperature as what feels hot on the stick may be operating temperature of the oil

Land rover series1 wont start when hot

Depends on how hot... most likely cause is fuel vapour lock, check this next time it won't start by removing the air filter from the carburettor and putting a small amount of fuel down the throat. if it starts then the best way to solve it is to replace the original pump with and electric pump. If it has the old S.U style electric pump then I would suggest it is time to overhaul it.

Land rover v8 carburetor - starts cold fine but

check the distributor advance unit pull the pipe off and then **** on advance unit to see if the diaphragm moves and stays in ,because the membrane goes then it will not start ,so you advance the distributor and it will start ,but once it gets hot the engine will not start unless you ****** the timing that bit .then when you do that it will not start when cold .

Check the fuel pressure when the vehicle is cold and compare it with when it's hot. Also check the fuel return dump valve , that this isn't returning too much fuel.

The normal reason why a hot engine doesn't start is the choke. Your fancy new range rover will have a computer controlled choke that will be activiated by a temperature sensor. maybe in his enthusiasm to replace expensive parts your dealer missed replaciijng this cheap little component. i don't see it in the list of replacements in your posting. Another possibility is that the sensor is OK but just disconnected.

In my ancient range rover I have a manual choke but essentially the same engine. I know that if the motor is hot I can't start it with the choke on.

In my ancient range rover I have a manual choke but essentially the same engine. I know that if the motor is hot I can't start it with the choke on.
The way the choke works is it restricts the airflow into the engine so that there is a richer fuel / air mixture which is needed for a cold start. If the engine is hot and the choke comes on the engiine floods with petrol and there isn't enough oxygen for it too ignite in the cylinders. To start a flooded engine you have to open the choke and crank the motor without pressing the accelerator. This pumps out the petrol vapour and eventually it will fire and start. If the computer thinks it is cold because of a disconnected or faulty sensor it will put on the choke whenever you try and start and the engine will flood.
I think a vapour lock is unlikely unless you driving in extremely hot weather (above 40 degrees celsius).

I'm pretty sure that sounds like a thermostat problem. If you live in a hot climate expecially. Sister's Range Rover having the same problem in Florida.
