Question about 2006 Pontiac Torrent

1 Answer

Where does the fresh air snorkel connect to the valve cover on a 2006 Pontiac torrent? Check engine light is on (P0171 code)?

Check engine light was on so I brought it to the dealer. They said that the fresh air snorkel was disconnected at the valve cover. They reconnected it and the CEL went out. Well the light came back on and I would like to reconnect the hose rather than bring it back to the dealer, but I can't find it. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it!

I believe the one your describing goes from the air inlet tube assy. , up and over the throttle body and goes to the top of the valve cover, under the ignition module (firewall side). If you already paid the dealer to fix this, take it back under warranty,

If no, approximately how long will I have to drive it before the CEL goes out? Thanks for your help, much appreciated!"

I had the SAME thing with my car!! Remove your air bag module its a grayish looking box that deploys your air bags, my air bag light was on but it was on and off. I pumped gas in my car one night and when i went to crank it my car cut right off after a split second. My mechanic took time on it but discover that it was a secrity issue. He removed the air bag module and presto it fired right up. I thought it was a fuel filter or fuel pump. It was just the air bag module, people freaked out about it once i told them what it should be under the passenger seat, i believe u may have to take out the seat to get to it.

Under the front seats you have wires going to your seat belt anchors. These wires are atached to a sensor witch activate the air bags if the anchors have force pull on them. The wires have plugs under the seat.Disconnect the plugs and spray with electical cleaner and replace.Make sure the ignition is switched off befor you attemt doing.90%of the time this will work.good luck.

SOURCE: where is heater actuator valve and door on an 2006

The HVAC assembly that controls the AC and heat is located inside the dash. The dash needs to be removed in order to gain access to these components. GM has had many many complaints with this vehicles Heat/AC (HVAC) system, and most complaints were do to a blend door shaft that breaks, preventing proper air flow direction and control. The cost to repair this problem ranges anywhere from $900.00 to $1200.00 dollars, and is a very big job to say the least. You may want to try and contact GM and see if there is some assistance they can provide for this repair. They should just have a recall, but that has not happened yet.

Where does the fresh air snorkel connect to the valve cover on a 2006 Pontiac torrent? Check engine light is on (P0171 code)

If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus I know a website that has very good manuals online, without expiry i.e. for lifetime.

I have a 2008 pontiac torrent showing a po171 code as well as a po300 miss fire

p0300 is a random multiple misfire, could just need a tune up.
you should have the mass airflow sensor cleaned, the p0171 is showing incorrect fuel mixture, best to have the vehicle scanned at a shop so the exact issue can be pinpointed

1986 fiero 2.8l vacuum line diagram

Hope this helps. A note though, the forward-most valve cover gets fresh, filtered air from the snorkel tube that comes from the air cleaner to the throttle body. A recall changed the source of this fresh air from the pipe along the firewall to the air cleaner, instead sourcing it from the snorkel tube in a futile attempt to prevent engine fires. The rear-most valve cover contains the PCV valve and goes directly to the bottom of the intake plenum.
The "Elek Vac Reg" in the picture is actually called the EGR vacuum control solenoid and it's 'diagnostic' switch. the hose that looks like it goes nowhere should actually be attached to the smaller pipe that runs along the firewall with the 'old, pre-recall' PCV fresh air pipe to the sir cleaner. This hose was left intact after the recall.
If you have cruise control, I believe it just has one line that gets hooked into a Tee that was installed in the canister's constant vacuum supply.
