I have 2010 impala and it won't start no lights on dash nothing but check engine light comes on checked battery and fuses what could it be

I have had many calls this week after the temperatures dipped near zero and the problem each time was the battery. Batteries today usually last 5 years and your vehicle is 5 years old. Get the battery checked.

2008 Town and Country the clicking noise is not solenoid

If it is not starting, could be a discharged or bad battery. If the battery doesn't have enough CCA left to start it, the vehicle will click. If it is the original battery, it would be time to change it. Most batteries will last 5 - 7 years so long as the vehicle is driven regularly and no other parts cause it to go bad.

How long does a battery last in a vehicle

This depends upon the quality of the car battery, and how you take care of it. If it is in a car and the car is driven daily, you should expect the battery will last 5-7 years.

If the car is not driven for extended periods of time, a battery tender should be placed on the battery, and failure to do this can ruin a battery. If it is a boat battery, during the off season the battery should be removed from the boat and a battery tender put on the battery.
If your battery has removeable caps on the top, make sure the battery is filled to the interal ring with distilled water. It is especially important to do this before charging a dead battery.

Do not store batteries directly on cement (place a piece of 2x4 under it). I know why, but batteries stored directly on the cement seem to die much faster and have a shorter overall life.

Car has been driving beautifully. Would not start yesterday after only have been shut off for about 5 minutes. Gave her a jump and she ran great the rest of the day with many stops and starts made...

SOUNDS LIKE THE BATTERY IS SHOT AND NEEDS REPLACING. MOST BATTERIES AVERAGE BETWEEN 2-4 YRS. I'VE SEEN SOME BATTERIES ONLY LASTING A LITTLE MORE THAN A YEAR. DEPENDING ON HOW YOU USE THE VEHICLE, MATTERS HOW LONG A BATTERY CAN LAST. IF YOU SIT & IDLE THE VEHICLE WITH THE A/C ON,FAN AT HIGH SPEED, LIGHTS ON, STEREO RUNNING WILL SHORTEN LIFE CAUSE THERES NOT ENOUGH ALTERNATOR SPEED TO CHARGE THE BATTERY. REMEMBER, WHAT VOLTAGE IS CONSUMED BY THE VEHICLE, THE ALTERNATOR REPLACES THE VOLTAGE BACK INTO IT AND MAINTAIN. PROVIDING YOU DON'T HAVE A RED BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH WHILE DRIVING, IT'S SAFE TO SAY THAT THE ALTERNATOR IS CHARGING. BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE THE CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKED ON YOUR CAR TO ENSURE PROPER OPERATION. GOOD LUCK.

So whenever I am driving my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo in the winter (I live in ND so it gets pretty cold) when I brake my lights seem to dim and my battery voltage meter kind of acts up. Is it time...

Do you know how old the battery is?
Do you know if it is the correct one for your vehicle?
Have it tested at a shop or a parts store, if they do that.
You install the correct group size for your vehicle, again,
parts store can look at it or look that up.
There is no time to replace a battery. Some last 3 years.
All mine last 7 to 9 years
You install the largest CCA Battery yhat fits your vehicle,
especially in a cold climate. Approx 770 to 800 CCA
That suggestion is out, because you want cheap.
A good battery will cost you $110.00

You need to diagnose the cause of the dimming lights and volt meter issues.
The alternator needs to be tested.
Put a volt meter on the batt terminals, and get a reading, then turn everything
on and see if it is able to charge with a slight increasing in engine speed

Wont start. battery tested good. will start when jumped.

Without knowing what test it was exactly, what the results were and whether they were interpreted correctly I'm going to have to make an educated guess that they tested the battery whilst it was removed from your car.

Most automotive chain store battery testers only check the battery voltage, their principal use is to help them check when the new batteries they hold in stock need recharging. This test is useless for your battery as you need to be able to test the battery under the kind of load it undergoes when trying to start your car.

As your car won't start on its own battery but starts fine when jumped it means that the starter motor isn't getting enough voltage under load from its own battery but that everything else is just fine.

Conclusion: your battery has reached the end of its life and needs to be renewed. If your battery has lasted less than a minimum of three years (most last at least four to five years these days) then you may also have an alternator output issue. If so get an automotive electrician (not some poorly trained Autozone sales monkey) to check the charging circuit for you or you can do it yourself very easily with a basic multimeter. See here

Last few days car seemed hesitant to start and this morning wont turn at all it just gives a small clicking noise

Maybe the battery is going bad.

Or, connections are bad.

Or the alternator isn't charging the battery enough.

Check for a more than .2A draw when the car is off using an inductive ammeter with your own tool, or at Sears or Walmart or your local auto parts store (if they are so equipped).

How old is the battery in the car? Batteries only last 3 years on average, I learned at Sears, through observing warranty adjustments.

Either there is an external draw on the battery or the battery is internally shorted.

Good luck on this repair.

Own a 2005 BMW M3, car battery draining -battery less than year.

From what you're saying here, I believe that you simply have a bad battery. Most batteries only last 5 years, much less if they're left to sit in storage periodically. You really should charge the battery overnight and do a load test on it the next day. The person(s) you spoke to at BMW were probably sales staff and not actual technicians. Costco has very good batteries at reasonable prices.

Battery replacement

Car Batteries last 3-6 years possisble longer/Shorter - Depends on alot of things, 2005 Vehicle the battery is 4 years old. I would clean the battery termals and have a local shop load test the battery for you. If the battery is weak it is best to change the battery now than have you charging system working hard to charge a weak battery adding more cost to a repair later or a no start on a cold morning.
