Oil leaked out from the oil cap and the engine cover has a missing screw

Oil may have been over filled , if not a faulty cap , the missing screw wouldnt cause a leak from the cap , check no oil leakage around missing screw (may need to clean area first) this could cause rocker cover gasket not being compressed properly

How to change oil

First find out what type of oil your car requires. examples are 5W 20 or 5W 30, These are examples of weight usually the manufacture list it on the oil cap. Then determine the type reqular or synthetic. As for brand thats up to you. Then make sure you have the filter. There are some that are screw on canister and some are oil filters.you need to know the part you require. Now for the oil pan there are different drain plug sizes some are starting at 12mm 13mm 14mm ect.. know your size. All in a nut shell you open drain plug let oil drain out. Install the drain plug, then reove oil filter, install new oil filter. Fill the engine in the engine oil fill cover and add (I always use 4 as start) you oil start at 4 quarts. Start the engine idle for a few seconds. check the oil level by using the oil dipstick. add if necessary, and recheck for leaks.

Need a diagram of oil change on a 2005 Chevy Cavalier

You probably have the 2.2L ecotec engine. The oil filter is what they call a canister filter. It is located just below the fill cap under a cap/housing with a 36mm head. The o-ring on the housing/cap should be replaced with the filter. The drain plug is on the bottom of the engine on the oil pan and can be loosened with a wrench (either 13mm or 15mm depending on which drain plug was installed at the factory)

FIRST OF ALL YOU NEED 4.0 QUARTS OF OIL FOR 2.2L 2.3L AND 2.4L OHC ENGINES AND THE 2.2L OHC USES 5.0 QUARTS WITH NEW OIL FILTER.TO GET START YOU NEED A FILTER WRENCH,DRAIN PAN, RUBBER GLOVES WHICH PROTECT HANDS FROM OIL. OILWILL CAUSE CANCER , IF STAYS ON SKIN TOO LONG.YOU NEED TO CRANK ENGINE UP LET IT IDLE 5 MINUTES TO THIN OUT MOTOR OIL SO IT CAN FLOW FASTER.WHEN 5 MINUTES UP.TURN OFF ENGINE.SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT VECHICLE ON JACK STANDS ON SOLID LEVEL GROUND.SLIDE DRAIN PAN UNDER THE CAR OIL PAN. PUT ON RUBBER GLOVES THEN REMOVE OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG ON BOTTOM OF OIL PAN USING A 15 METRIC SOCKET WITH RATCHET WRENCH.WHEN ALL OIL DRIPS.SCREW IN TIGHTEN OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG BACK IN OIL PAN REMOVE OIL FILTER ITS NEXT TO OIL PAN USE SOCKET TYPE OIL FILTER WRENCH IF OIL FILTER IS DOWNWARD POSITION. IF OIL FILTER ON THE SIDE YOU NEED THE BAND TYPE OIL FILTER WRENCH. ****** NOTE THIS THE 2.2L OHC ENGINE USES A OIL FILTER ELEMENT THAT HOUSED INSIDE A RECEPTACLE LOCATED AT THE LEFT FRONT CORNER OF THE ENGINE.YOU UNSCREW THE OIL FILTER CAP THEN LIFT THE CAP AND OIL FILTER FROM THE FILTER RECEPTACLE IN THE ENGINE.SEPERATE THE OIL FILTER ELEMENT FROM THE CAP USING A CLEAN RAG REMOVE OIL DIRT AND SLUDGE FROM THE OIL FILTER CAP AND FROM THE RIM AROUND THE OIL FILTER RECEPTACLES.INSTALL A NEW O RING INTO THE GROOVE IN THE CAP.THEN INSTALL THE NEW FILTER ELEMENT IN THE CAP AND INSERT BOTH INTO THE FILTER RECEPTACLE.SCREW DOWN THE CAP AND TIGHTEN IT SECURELY. Where is the oil filter 2007 santa fe v6 not under plastic cover

Hello,

It is located on the top of you engine compartment, under the hood, to the right (Driver Side) of the engine and left of your battery. You need to take off the plastic engine cover (two bolts and four screw nuts) to expose it. It is cylinder in shape with a black plastic cap, which screws off to show the oil filter. The filter is different than your normal one, it doesn't have a outside metal cover to it. It looks like a air filter but round. Also in the box with your new oil filter comes two "O" rings, one small and one big. The big one replaces the "O" ring at the top of the screw part of your black cap and the small one goes on the bottom of the same cap.

Take care.
