Why won't my brake pedal light up my brake lights but my headlight switch light does?

I also have to open my passenger door instead of my driver door to turn off my radio when the ignition is turned off

Your brake light is separate from your running light. If you can still shift out of park when starting then the brake light circuit still has power. check your fuses anyway, and your bulbs. As for your radio issue, do the overhead lights come on when you open the door? if not try cleaning the switch in the jam. otherwise it might be in the computer. Mine is nuts too and when i tried to program a new keyless remote my guages died.

It is most likely two separate issues. Check your brake light switch for proper adjustment or replace if defective, for your brake light problem. Maybe there is a wire disconnected or bad door switch/connection for the radio issue. Good luck, DW.

lol i'll tell you what to do about the 93 lesabre headlight problem, carry a wrench and disconnect the battery. not optimal but it's what i had to do. don't...kick the headlight button multiple times as i tried to do, it doesn't fix anything. although, as soon as i got used to disconnecting the battery cable, the problem suddenly stopped.

This is most likely to be your brake switch near your foot pedal then. They can come lose, or just break completely, rare, but it happens.
Get down on the floor and check up behind your brake pedal, it should look fairly obvious where it is then.
Good luck with it.

My back break lights isnt working and front head lights are they both connected

If both are not working, check your brake light fuse and then bulbs for burnt filaments. If ok, could be wiring or brake light switch located at the back of the brake pedal. To eliminate the switch, if your car is equipped with cruise control, try to engage it and if it works, the switch is good, if not, switch is bad as the cruise control needs a good working brake switch to engage the cruise.

I have a 2002 Ford Expedition and the brake light will not turn off. We do not use the e-brake. can anyone help with this problem?

Your stop light switch has failed. This is the switch operated every time you operate the brake
pedal. This switch fails in one of two ways - always open (brakes lights don't work), or always
closed (brake lights won't turn off).

To replace a stoplight switch, first determine what type of switch you have.

If you have an electrical switch mounted to the brake pedal in the passenger compartment:

* Unplug the wire connector at the back of the switch.
* Unscrew the switch.
* Replace with a new switch. Adjust the adjustment nut as needed.
* Plug the wires back in.

If you have a hydraulic pressure switch that is mounted in the brake master cylinder:

* Mark and disconnect the wires.
* Unscrew the switch.
* Screw the replacement switch in.
* Reconnect the wires.

Tail lights stay on

make sure it is not the brake lights on instead. press the brake pedal and have someone see if the lights gets brighter. if not so you need a new brake light switch. if they do get brighter the brake light switch is fine and the headlight switch is bad instead

Rear driver's side tail light goes off when break pedal applied

I had the same problem. They were on when the headlights were on, but turned off instead of brightening when I pressed the brake. I replaced the bulb and now it gets bright when I press the brake instead of turning off (like it should).

Troubleshooting 1984 chrysler back brake lights

There is a contact (not short) between wire to brake light and to back light on passenger side, when you press the pedal, electricity is absorbed by barake light bulb and back light dim out. Check cables and connectors, if necessary follow back cables to battery.
If the contact is a short the back lights fuse will blow, I think it is a contact between same polarity cables, not a short.
