Question about 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix
Posted by Anonymous on
The can be caused by something as simple as corroded battery terminals. Check them first. If they are all crusty clean them and reattach them. I spray mine with white grease to keep them from corroding again.
If that doesn't fix it check your battery. Take it to a shop with a load tester. They will do this for free because if it's no good they will sell you a new battery.
If you battery is good and your terminals are clean then check the alternator.
I have driven these cars for years and have never had an alternator fail. It's always the battery or terminals.

SOURCE: charging system failure
Hello! The problem you are experiencing is most likely due to a fautly or malfunctioning alternator. You can take the car to any major auto parts store, and they can do a FREE charging system test which will tell you if your alternator is operating (and charging the battery) properly, as well as if your battery is accepting the incoming charge from the alternator.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Pontiac stopped installing the fuel filter on the rail in 2006. The 2004-2005 models had a fuel filter on the driver's side under the rear passenger seat area clipped to the frame. 2006 beyond the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump unit inside the tank.

HI. PROBABLY WONT HURT IT, BUT YOU SHOULD NOT NEED IT. OTHERWISE THEY WOULD ADD IT AT THE FACTORY WHEN NEW, IF IT IS SLIPPING I WOULD TAKE IT TO A TRANNY SHOP. HOPE THAT HELPS. MOTOR62500..
