Question about Cars & Trucks
There is a 10 amp fuse, position #8, in the instrument panel fuse block. It's for the dash, tail lights and license plate lights-and the rear side marker lights, too.
If the fuse is good, check that it has power to it, as it should, with the park lights on, the first click of the light switch. Power is sent out of the light switch being on (in either position) to that fuse, and then to the dash and tail lights, license lights, and side marker lights.

Most cars tail lights are atached by a couple of nuts from inside the trunk. you will have to peel back the carpet , or remove plastic cover panel if there is one.

it is more than likely a short in the headlight switch. also try the dimmer switch on the dash for the dash lights.

There are two fuse boxes--one under the dash by the left foot rest which handles most of the interior circuits, and
one under the hood on the left side to the rear of the battery for the headlights
and other high-drain equipment. Each should have a diagram on the cover. Check all related fuses again.
If that doesn't solve it, you have either a grounding issue or a short in the wiring harness. Check each lead with a voltage meter to narrow down the location.
