With what info you've given,it would not have been the light switch or the rheostat for changing dash light brighting.Since both the dash lights and running lights are not working, first thing I'd have done is replace the fuse, since both are o the same fuse.Kinda like when my Toyota wipers would stop, the overdrive stopped working too. Both were on the same fuse.Replace the fuse and good to go.I carry fuses with me.

Take it back to the Mechanic , he probably didn't get a connect pushed together all the way .Your not going to want to pull you dash out in hopes of fixing this . If you paid he , he dam well better fix it .

Trace your wires from your heater. Check your fuses also, the heater wire likely shorted into the ground for the gauges or vice-versa. You have to have some wires rubbing together under the dash somewhere.

Dash lights and running lights out, but no fuse in the mannual seems to be linked to this circuit. none of the fuses seem to be blown.

It's your dimmer switch on the dash. Easy to change out, but about $80. If you pull it out of dash and squeeze sides, may come on. If you're cheap like me, pull board out of switch module and touch solder joints on board with a soldering gun. It worked for me.

Abs light and trac off light both came on dash at same time

These two are linked together the abs light is probably on for a bad component like a wheel speed sensor or something like that, this will automatically trigger the TRAC light to come on. To check it must be done by a code scanner/computer. This can be check at an auto zone for free. Then I will be able to help with the code. In most case the most common problem is one of the four wheel speed sensors for the abs system. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA.

05 G Caravan Dash Lights, gages & headlights intermitantly flicke

Try your headlight switch. If it is going bad it should affect all of these since they all work of the same switch.
