I have a 1994 Toyota corolla changed the timing belt tensioner. trying to set timing, all marks line up except camshaft dots, can't get them to face each other without throwing off all the other marks

If you removed the tensioner and didn't lock the cams and crank down then you have to re-time the engine. It sounds like you let the exhaust and intake cams move.

Remove the spark plugs, put a ratchet on the crank pulley, slowly rotate engine until the cams line up. Once the cams are lined up remove, the timing belt and bring the crank around to the timing mark. put belt back on and let the tensioner go. put plugs back in...see if it'll start.

How do set timing of a Mazda FE-DOHC 16v 2.0i. does the timing marks has to face each other or should they be facing 12h00 position

Why is it you guys are not letting us know your names lately? Each timing mark on each sprocket should have its own match mark. the timing marks are each aligned to the relevant match mark. Regards John

2001 f150 4,6l motor replaced right side timeing chain car bearllyruns could this be caused by putting the crank shaft sensor in backwords

the camshaft keys should be positioned downwards at 90 degrees to the head surface(Gasket surface) This will place the timing marks on the sprocket in the 1o'clock position upwards. The black link on the chain will be aligned with the 2 dots on the sprocket. This applies to both heads. the crankshaft sprocket will be facing down and the black link will be on the single dot. The crankshaft keyway will be located at approx. the 11 o'clock position.

If this sounds a bit daunting then get a workshop manual as it explains the process well. The book says not to turn the camshafts /crankshaft with the chains removed and I suspect that if this is not adhered to then bent valves will result.

Timing chain marks needed for Audi A4 B9 1.8tfsi 2009 model. Engine was taken out and settings not marked. This is extremelyurgent. Please help

diagrams I have show a twin cam set up with 2 balancing shafts. The marks on the cam shaft point to (left cam shaft 11 oclock the mark on the right point to the 1 oclock position. The chain will have 3 black links-- the top black links will be at the timing marks on the shafts with the 3rd black link directly at 6 oclock facing a mark on the gear. The balancer marks both point to the 1 oclock position with black links on each and the 3rd black link will be facing a mark to the 7 oclock position on the crankahaft gear. Everything is done with the piston at TDC no 1 cylinder so get it there before you put the cam shafts in position or you will bend valves. Crank shaft gear is not keyed to the crank shaft. there are dots on the right hand balancer shaft gears and these dots will be as the 2 dots on adjacent teeth either side of a dot on the meshing gear. I suppose that is all as clear as mud but if you got this far then you will see the marks and marked links on the chains

How do I change the Air Cleaner for 2000 Mercury Sable?

The black bulky box there has some spring clips you pop loose and the collapse the moveable cover toward the engine and lift out the air filter element. Check inside for debris and vacuum this out of the box.
Then place your new element (correct side is marked which way to face it with an arrow) into the box and repace the cover and fasten the spring clamps.
Any problems just drive to Auto-Zone and they'll put it together for you usually.Don-ohio (:^)

Timing marks and degrees

Align the cam sprockets to the top of the engine with the little arrows on the head. Then you will notice the belt is aligned on the crankshaft at the bottom of the engine with the keyway facing slightly to the left (11 o'clock position or so). It will not be straight up. There is a little "o" mark on the crankshaft sprocket which aligns with a mark on the new belt. Getting these marks exact requires writing down their exact locations before removing the old belt. Don't try it from memory unless you are a trained toyota factory technician. The cam sprockets at the top of the engine are lettered "R" and "L". The new timing belt will have corresponding letters. The timing belt has to be placed on with the letters reversed as they are facing you (as the "R" cam is actually on your left as you face the engine from the passenger side). My job turned out excellent. Cost me less that $50 bucks. I did not change the tensioner although it is recommended. My theory is that it will last until the second timing belt job since it does not have a lot of moving parts and is enclosed and lubricated constantly.

Timing marks for cambelt change

Ej-25 motor has 4 cams. Cam sprockets are marked as follows. Intakes have single hatch mark which point straight up and a double hatch mark that face straight down at double hatch mark on exhaust sprocket. The exhaust sprocket also has a single notch at 90 degrees which points to the outside edge and should line up with mark on cover. Take your time. Hope this helps and have a Great day.

Want to change my timing belt on a 3.2 rodeo 1998 24v engine

The marks should be in the shape of "arrows" or indented "lines" located on the pulleys and the face of the head gasket. There are alike marks on the crankshaft pulley and the face of the engine block also. Make sure your #1 cylinder is at "Top Dead Center" before you line up the pulleys on the cylinder head and install the belt.
