have you checked the fuse for the circuit the hatch opening solenoid is on? Have you checked to see is power is on the circuit when you push the button? If the fuse is ok and there is power, you need to take things apart to get to the inside of the hatch door. then you need to check the back side of the button for power and check the solenoid with an alternative power source to see if it works or not.
I had a similar problem, push the button below the hatch window, sound like it wants to open, but does not. This was my fix replace the actuator switch in the hatch door. Need to remove the inside door to access the switch, not to bad to complete, the biggest issue is getting the door panel off without breaking clips I fixed this one myself, but if you were going to have this repaired in a repair shop, depending on the labor rate, probably about $250.00. If you can do it yourself about $60.00 for the part at autozone. I have some tech ability, but I am not an auto mechanic Hope this helps Chuck
ive got a 07 equinox and the rear hatch wont open as of yesterday. on the inside of the hatch there is an access plug you can pop off and inside you'll see a metal switch with a hole in it. if you push it away from yourself, it will unlatch it. i dont know why the hatch wont open as ive checked the fuse and its ok.
