I wouldn't try to wire anything other than the way the manufacturer specified it or you could do some expensive damage that may end up you voiding your warranty. The lighting system on these vehicles is controlled by a body controller which controls various other lighting functions on the vehicle.

The brake switch itself should be adjustable. Ones I know of can be screwed or moved in or out for proper adjustment. If not, is it possible you have a weak brake pedal spring? But, nah, not on an '07, I wouldn't think. If the switch is not adjustable, check closely the brake pedal for something not quite right. Good luck.
