You may also find useful information regarding replacing the fuel pump in a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup in an automotive repair manual for that make and model year.
If you reside in the USA, your local public library probably subscribes to one or more database/s with full automotive repair manuals. Your taxpayer dollars at work!
If you hold a current library borrower card, you can go to your local public library website, log into your borrower account, and locate the automotive repair databases, so that you can identify the repair manual which will help you and print the relevant pages.
If you do not know the website address for your local public library, you can find it by using your favorite search engine and entering the following search phrase, using quotation marks as shown:
"City Name, State" "public library"
Example: "Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin" "public library"
If you do not hold a current library borrower card, you will have to visit your local public library and apply for one. You will need valid photo ID (like your driver's license) and probably some other paperwork which will verify your residential address - examples: electric bill, credit card bill, etc.
Once you are at the library you can ask a reference / information librarian to talk you through how to access the auto repair manuals database and find the manual you need.
Note: Public libraries are closed today, 15 Jan 2018, Martin Luther King Day.

I think you can get it free from the GM owners site that is run by General Motors. I know I got the free downloadable manual for my '04 GMC. You can give it a try. When you get to the website, you can log in with a Yahoo email address. If you don't have one, just go to Yahoo and create one. Then just follow the instructions on "registering your car with the site". It isn't that invasive, but does give you free manuals. Also, you have to agree to let your Yahoo addy accept their junk emails. Here is the website:
