Question about 1999 Cadillac DeVille

2 Answers

I have a 1999 cadi deville, the abs and traction control lights come on and the car steers like the power steering belt has came off and the car acts like the brakes are being held on. When these lights come on you can press the gas pedal to the floor from a dead stop and in about a 1/4 mile the car reaches about 55mph. Sometimes while driving the car with the lights on the abs light will start blinking and the lights will go out, when the lights go out there is sometimes a loud noise that sounds like gears meshing and the car jerks then the car drives normal again. please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few things could be wrong....it could be your brake control module, anti-lock brake system or a wheel speed sensor. The best thing to do is to get it into a garage and have them take a look at it and give you an idea of what is wrong. Either way, if you do not have the proper tools, you are better off taking it to the shop.

I hope this helps.

It's definitely a ABS wheel sensor.

1998 740 the speedometer, stopped working, abs and traction control lights on, power steering not working

Sounds like the axle gear that leads to the hub along with strut mounts. A bad mount will cause binding and the steering will feel very stiff. In the absence of this your powering steering could be seizing which will affect your steering along with other systems

2001 cadillac deville service system stability

Whenever this warning or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module has detected a fault, it then disables the system as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Traction control dissability for a cadi deville 95 not passed emmission

I would have the abs system check out, this could be a combiation of things. Most likely is due to a faulty wheel speed sensor but to determine which sensor is at fault will require a scan tool capible of scanning obd I abs systems

Hi don't no if its traction control prob but on my A-class 160 2000 when i'm driving my steering goes very stiff and it makes it hard to turn can no lights come on it just does it pls can you help. toni.

Traction control does not make steering go stiff, it works via the ABS sensors and engine control unit. Depending on how often this fault occurs it could simply be a slipping drive belt which turns the power steering pump when under pressure

Steering rack replacement on a 99 cady deville, how difficult ?

Rather difficult. Involves disconnecting the tie rod ends. Steering linkage from steering wheel. Disconnecting the power steering pump lines and unbolting the rack and pinion from the body. Not a lot of room to get at stuff.

My '99 catera speedometer doesnt work and the

You need to replace the traction control module located on the ABS pump. There are places in the US where they will rebuild it for you with warranty for about $150.
Its tricky to get off (you need to remove the rad hose between the battery and the pump to get to it, but don't disconnect the ABS module, just the TC module mounted at end of the ABS unit (has a bunch of brake lines coming out if it).

The power steering is variable assist, relative to the speed of the vehicle, so if the speedo doesn't work, then the PS won't and you should have TC and ABS lights on. The electrical connectors to the module are tricky to remove. don't force them. One connector has a sliding lock bar.

When I turn the steering wheel the low trac light

The steering wheel position, wheel speed sensors, and ABS systems are all used to provide traction control. You likely have a failure of one or more systems. Scan the ABS system and it will provide codes to help the diagnosis. Wheel speed sensors fail often, and it is likely one or more of these is contributing to the problem.

use a scanner to check the abs system . most of the time the abs brakes and traction control system work together. your cruise control . unit has a servo motor .in front right fender well. check the fuse and relay also the cruise control brake release switch. and the brake light switch.if all is good you have a cruise control module problems. dealer ship job.
