I had the same problem on my 05 freestyle. Its the fuel pump. $140 on ebay. No need to drop the tank. Its located in the tank but there is an access panel on the floor board under the rear passenger seat. You see once pull back the carpet.

What causes a sensor go bad on a fuel pump in gas tank ,on a 2000 grand am se v6 3.4 motor ?

The windings of the fuel level sensor rheostat get rubbed through and that causes the gage to read incorrectly.

Gas gage 99 gmc envoy

If your gauge is pinned in one direction or the other and doesn't move, you could have a short. If it's in different postions or just incorrect, it's is your pump. If you do not have a new fuel pump that is AC Delco, Delphi, or Denso brand, it probably IS your pump. #1 problem with guage accuracy is this fuel pump/sending unit. Aftermarkets do not last long at ALL. It is very common for most other brands to last less than a year.

1993 Grand Marquis fuel gauge problem

Not sure what your asking but the fuel gage sending unit is in the gas tank. Most problems with fuel gages that read incorrectly are there. It may need to be replaced.

Gas gage is not working rite

The most common cause of a erratic or incorrect fuel gage reading is a defective fuel gage sending unit inside the fuel tank. To replace the sending unit requires that the fuel tank be removed from the car and then the fuel pump module which contains the sender be replaced.

Gas gauge doesn't work

Hello
The no. 1 cause of the gas gage not reading or reading incorrectly is that the sending unit for the gas gage inside the gas tank is defective, this is esp true on older cars and trucks, In order to replace the gas gage sending unit requires the gas tank be removed.

What causes my nissan maxima to get low gas mileage? I was told the sensor bank one and had ti replaced no change in mileage.my gage jumps from 12 -27 miles a gallon. It drinks gas!

Driving habits...incorrect tire pressure...excessive weight in car...low oil/old oil. Many things affect mileage. My 2002 max needed a new O2 sensor. Once replaced the mileage improved slightly.

The odometrer, speedometer, gas gage are not working

Has anyone had the dash out? If you take the dash out there is a cable connected to the odometer and the speedometer it is just one cable. And some wires going to the gas gage. Check and make sure the cable is connected all the way. The gas gage may also be disconnected somewhere but there could be different problems that cause the gas gage to be disabled. !Never touch two wires at the same time!

Re fuel gage.

the fuel tank sending unit is defective in your van, this has nothing to do with the fuel pump going out, this was a 100% incorrect statement by the shop that said this, but do understand that if you pull the fuel tank to repair the defective sender for the gas guage u might as well replace the fuel pump which also is in the fuel tank, they (the pump) are are getting worn out at about the miles you have on this car.
