Where is the body control module located on 2002 cadillac deville


The body control system consists of the following 3 modules:
• The Dash Integration Module (DIM)
• The Instrument Panel Module (IPM)
• The Rear Integration Module (RIM)
Each of the 3 body control modules integrate a number of functional systems under the control of a single module. Each module is connected to the Class 2 serial data circuit, many of the control functions are implemented by Class 2 messages.

The 97 Bonneville. That has. The twilight sentinel feature. The dash. Or cluster does not work none of the int light works and the fog lamp all fuses are goods


Twilight feature is used by the BCM to turn on the headlights when light levels diminish. Dash, cluster lighting is controlled by a rheostat near the headlight switch. The rheostat is rolled up for brighter lights. If this does not work the interior module may have burned out or the rheostat may be bad. If interior lights come on when rheostat is rolled fully up it most likely is OK. Interior lighting module is located above the headlight switch beside the cluster on the left side.

Is the headlight control module part of the body control module, or is it a separate part?

It's separate from BCM .

I have the owners manual in front of me but nowhere does it list the relay for the right side headlight or a relay for either headlight. Fuses are good. SSP relays dont say what they are for.


Tree is not a relay for the headlights. The headlights are ground side controlled by the FEM module. The FEM module receives lighting information from the instrument cluster which is the "gateway" for the lighting info. The headlight switch as well as the high/low and turn signal information is routed through the instrument cluster and is them delivered to the FEM module or the rear lighting control module.

Location of fuse in Intelligent Module


Fuse panel B contains fuses that supply power to washer functions. 25A fuses 34 and 33 and 30A fuse 32 supply power to the vehicle electrical system control module. 30A fuse 38 supplies power to the wiper motor control module. 5A fuse 19 supplies power to the rain/light recognition sensor. 30A fuse 36 supplies power to the headlight washer relay. 10A fuse 15 supplies power to the instrument cluster control module for washer fluid level sensing. 10A fuse 13 supplies power to the windshield wiper/washer switch in the steering column electronic systems control module. In addition, 5A fuse 20 supplies power to the washer nozzle heaters. Troubleshooting all this could lead to an answer.

Instrument Panel Lights


Daytime headlight issue ? No , no sensor behind the front bumper . No Daytime time head lamp issue , doesn't turn on the instrument panel light's . This is more then likely a remote dimmer module problem .
Interior Lights Dimming Circuit Description (Pontiac)
When the park lights are on, battery positive voltage (B+) is applied via CKT 32 (YEL) to the remote dimmer module. The interior dimming switch in the lamp dimmer switch is a variable resistor which applies the dimming input via CKT 44 (DK GRN) to the remote dimmer module. The potentiometer in the lamp dimmer switch cannot provide enough current in order to operate the incandescent lights. The remote dimmer module amplifies the current, applying a variable voltage to the incandescent lights. As the amount of current increases, the lamps become brighter. As the amount of current decreases, the lamps become dimmer.
The radio, heater and A/C control assembly, instrument cluster, and passenger climate control each has a vacuum fluorescent (VF) display. When each module receives an input that the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, each module activates the VF display at the full intensity. When the park lights are on, the radio receives the dimming level from an input on CKT 8 (GRY). The radio then relays this information to any other modules with VF displays. All modules with VF displays then adjust the dimming level of their VF display in order to match the level of the incandescent lamps.

    Instrument panel lights do not come on.


    Soldering the new bulbs in may have done something to the LH DIMMER MODULE ! The 10amp INT LPS fuse located in the I/P fuse box is good ? Is the dimmer switch at full bright ?
    When the park lamps are on, battery positive voltage (B+) is supplied through the instrument panel (IP) fuse block INT LPS fuse via CKT 32 (YEL) to the dimming switch. The dimming switch supplies a variably controlled voltage to the dimmer module(s). The potentiometer in the panel dimming control cannot provide enough current in order to operate the panel lamps. The dimmer module(s) amplifies the current, supplying the variable voltage to the panel lights. As the amount of the current increases, the lamps become brighter. As the amount of the current decreases, the lamps become dimmer.
    Buick
    There is only 1 dimmer module that supplies current to the panel lights. The left dimmer module supplies current via CKT 8 (GRY) to the following components:
    • The headlamp switch
    • The door switch flood lamps
    • The heater and A/C control
    • The door handle flood lamps
    • The passenger temperature control
    • The ashtray lamp
    • The shift select switch lamp
    • The instrument cluster
    • The steering wheel controls
    • The reset switch
    • The trip odometer
    • The radio
    Parade Dimming
    The parade dimming feature prevents the dimming of the VF displays when daylight is sensed by the lamp control module (LCM) and the park lamps are turned on manually. If the LCM senses night time conditions and the park lamps are on, the LCM allows the VF displays to be dimmed.
    All of the modules with the VF displays receive the dimming level from an input on CKT 8 (GRY) or CKT 1244 (BRN). When the LCM determines that the above conditions are met, the LCM sends a signal to the instrument cluster and the radio via CKT 390 (YEL). For Buick, the radio then relays this information to the heater and A/C programmer and passenger temperature control via CKT 724 (PPL/WHT). The modules with the VF displays then adjust the dimming level of their VF displays to match the level of the incandescent lights.

    My lights do not work on auto, but they work on each individual setting fine. What's the problem?


    I would suspect, per your description, you have a "photo cell" that is not functioning.
    When the light switch is in the auto position, the photo cell delivers an ambient light level to the control module. When the light level gets too low, the module will automatically turn the headlights on.
    You can have the module scanned at your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts at no charge to you.
    Write the code numbers down and reply back and we can start diagnosing.
