Question about 1993 Pontiac Grand Am
Clean the Mass Flow sensor. It is probably a black module with wires on the side of the throttle body. There are a few ways to do this, but I suggest buying a can of spray designed for this purpose from your local parts store (electrical spray or MAF spray).
Be careful not to break the little wire. It costs a few hundred bucks to replace.

Disconect the overdrive solenoid from the transmission. test drive replace if problem goes away. You will not have overdrive while doing this test.
