Question about 1995 Rover MGF

Mgf starting but will not pick up revs

My son's mgf would not start but since my last query have managed to get it to start but will not pick up the revs.Can you advise? ivansime@gmail.com

SOURCE: how do you take off the fuel sender on a MGF

On American cars, the fuel sender and pump are held in the tank by a lock ring that is turned or tapped with a punch till it turns to a point where the lock ring can be removed. The plate below it then lifts out of tank and the pump and sender unit are attached to the plate. A large o-ring fits between the tank and the plate. I don't even know what a MGF is.

The airbag stays on with my 1995 MGF. Any ideas on how to reset it?


the common problem with the airbag light on with this model is usually caused by poor connection on the seat belt pretensioner connectors under the seats. yellow connectors i think. disconnect them one at a time and spray connector lube on the terminals then refit. it makes it easier if you remove the seat fixing bolts and prop the front of seat up for access, good idea to disconnect battery before you start.hope this helps.

You cant..that is the whole point of an anti theft device.
Find out whatsxwrong with the immobiluser unit and sort it out.

Mgf starting problems


It could be the leads, you can check them with a multimeter. Find out what resistance is stated for your leads and check, the resistance will vary according to the length of the lead. You should be able to find a site that will give you the resistance to length figures.
You can also check the dissie cap(cracks and excessive wear on poles), rotor, points and condensor (if you don't have electronic or magnetronic ignition).

I just brought a MGF 2 days ago 1996 plate, I tried to start it but keeps making a clicking sounds, how can i make the car start please


Highly Likely to be the solenoid.
But first make sure the battery is fully charged.

I bought a mgf vvc off a friend and she sed the head gasket had gone so i replaced gasket and had head skimed and put it all back togeather again but car try's to start but thats it it has spark b


The fuel pump incorporates a inertia switch,The switch is next to the ECM,you may have triggered,reset it by pressing the red top.If that doesnt do it the pressure regulator uses a spring diaghram modified by a vacuum signal,remove the vacuum signal (just to start)
