97 Chev Tahoe will not start after rain

Most of the time, after a rainfall, my 1997 Tahoe will start. But once I get the truck up to around 55 it will start to shudder or hesitate. I will lay off the gas and it goes back to normal. I have learned to 'feel' it coming and I can adjust. But twice, after heavier rainfalls, my truck would not start. Once was earlier this spring after a cold rain and 30-40 degree air temp. I waited 3 days and the truck started. Then again today, when the daytime temps hit the 80's. It rained Sunday, this morning before going to work - no start. I went out tonight and the truck fired right up. Not smooth perfect starts, but it started. Is this some kind of sensor problem?

A very old and persistent problem with GM vehicles, especially the 350 (5.7) V-8, is similar to what you're are describing, runs like **** when it rains. What was (is) usually the problem, is a small crack not usually visible to the human eye, in the distributor cap. It a cheap and easy fix, just replace it at the local auto store. The good 'ol boy fix was to remove the cap and spray with carb cleaner, etc, to remove the moisture and put it back in place, works if you're 16 years old, broke, and dad has carb cleaner....

I fixed a very tricky problem like that once by finding a loose main harness ground which was bolted to the chasis. The moisture made the difference wether the ground made a circuit or not.It was a GM vehicle by the way and the ground was in the rear of the vehicle from the body harness.I would not be suprised if that particular ground problem affected the fuel pump.proper harness grounds are critical in todays vehicles

How do you set timing for 1997 chev tahoe

You would need a shop scanner for the Gen I that still have distibutors.
The scanner will tell you the initial setting. If its off you adjust the distributor to advance or ****** the timing, snap the throttle and when it comes back down to idle the scanner will show the new timing setting.
The ones with DIS are all done by the PCM.

I am removing the engine from a 97 Chev Tahoe and the manul says to disconnect the fuel lines from under the truck. Where abouts is the location to disconnect the lines.

If it were me I would just disconnect them at the intake manifold. I think there are some brackets that are attached by bell housing bolts that help keep them in place also. Be sure to put some tape over them to keep dirt out. I think there are orings on them also so be sure no to lose those also.

97 chevy tahoe is leaking water during hard rains at the bottom of the windshield area around the cowl on the driver side. water is running down the hood latch release area and soaking the floor

a 3/8th hole will suffice so long as you remember to keep it clear,as for the build of these vehicles i have no idea ,sorry i live in spain so ask me about a seat or citreon and i recite it from memory

97 chev tahoe service engine light is on and it wont start

P0300 is random multiple misfire. If its been more then 3years since the last tune-up, do one. Usually it is caused by debris inside the distributor cap but could also be plugs wires, fuel and air filter.
