Question about 2010 Hyundai Sonata 2.4
The lights, radio, and bell work, the engine doesn't turn over unless you pull ******* the steering wheel (assisting the tranny?) No clicking noise (maybe not starter) but does make an airy whirring noise. Getting progressively worse of course. I'm looking for a place to start.
I agree with Tace. Your starter is bad. Solenoid on it is not kicking the bendix up to the ring gear. Replace the starter.

It sounds like the starter is running but not engaging on the flywheel (airy whirring noise). It is possible that the bendix drive fork is loose, the pin could have fallen out, or the bendix clutch is faulty, the most likely cause.
The bendix is the gear on the starter, and it has a clutch that engages when the starter starts turning. When the engine starts, it will tend to spin the starter faster than it was designed to run, so the clutch allows the bendix gear to slip. When this clutch becomes faulty, it will slip both ways instead of turning the engine. Hope this helps.

check your cv axles in the front end. they are basically your drive axles. the popping while turning is usually the outer boots on the axle shafts have torn and the grease inside the boots has ran out causing the shaft to be dry and click or pop when steering. usually you can replace the boot thats torn but it must be done within a few days of it tearing otherwise you will need to replace the axle shafts.

I had same problem with my 2002 Sonata. Turned out to be Ignition switch relay under the hood. $22 part from dealer. Check ignition fuses under hood also.
