Re: How do I adjust manual front headrest which is stuck?
All the ones i have seen are just tight fit.. there is no secret latch or anyrthing.. Try protecting the leather seat and putting a little WD40 on the shaft wait a little while and apply some muscle.

Make sure you replace it after removal. It is part of the safety system and prevents you getting a broken neck in a crash.
Depress the large button on the head restraint guide and raise the head restraint to the full up position. Depress the smaller button on the opposite head restraint guide and pull upward to remove from the seat.Jan 16, 2022
The headrest is not adjustable. It's part of Volvo's safety feature. The seat will recline/pull back and cradle you in case of an accident.
Of course, the downside is that if you don't find it comfortable in the position it's in, you could grow to hate it. Can you lean the seat back a little and raise the bottom cushion a bit to adjust the angle?
I turned my headrests backward. Worked great. In fact, I wonder if the engineers designed them that way but the production guys build them backward??? 1) Tilt the seat way back to allow room to remove headrests, 2) Press and hold both headrest release tabs at the same time and have someone else pull out the headrest completely, 3) turn the headrests backward and insert into the two headrest guide slots (headrests fit the same either way). 4) No more pain in the neck !!! Caution: I do not know what this does for whiplash injury protection but it seems OK for my own comfort with the solution. And it beats the pain in the neck caused by the bass-akwards design.
Yes it does just push the button in or the little lever thing and give a good yank and they will come out .Pure brute force and ignorance will win this one thats for sure
When you lift the headrest to the up position on the plastic sleves at
the bottom of the metal rods for the headrest you should find a small
hole on one side.Take a small pin or nail and push in the hole and lift
up that will release the headrest
