SOURCE: i want to change timing belt for microbus 2.6 but i am not shore about the mark on the cam

We do not have micro bus here, but i can tell you that a timing component kit comes with a small book with marks and some directions, another way is to line engine up at top dead center and mark gears before removal, Note; all gears must be line up correctly or engine damage will occur. after you install the timing belt spin crank pulley 2 revolutions and all marks should line back up, if not then realign,

2005 vw jetta 2.0L 4cyl bbw engine code: need timing belt set up/marks

Here are a few diagrams to line up crank and cam, note there is a tool used with valve cover removed and slides into rear of cam to lock into place but as long as you hold it in the correct location with a wrench you will be okay and the crank you will need to put lower cover on and use lower pulley to line marks up and then double check the mark at the rear on the transmission, there are two diagrams i sent one is for automatic transmission and the other manual , i labeled them, the tensoiner, i assume you know how that must be done , if not let me know, the pointer must be in the right location. after timing belt is on you will spin crank two complete times and check the alignment marks if they are off try again. note you must not assume it is lined up spin crank to check.12_25_2012_7_59_29_pm.png12_25_2012_7_59_40_pm.png12_25_2012_7_59_50_pm.png12_25_2012_8_00_03_pm.png12_25_2012_8_00_16_pm.png

Toyota tercel 1988, when installing the distributer. How do you ensure proper timing with cam

Usually if you put the distributor back in without turning the crankshaft, you can line up the rotor with the correct plug wire. They generally will only go in two ways, on the mark or 180 degrees off.
The timing marks on the crank are used to check base timing.
If you put the dist in and then turn the crank to line up the marks on the damper, you can tell if the rotor is pointing to the correct plug wire.

Forgot to mark timing belt for replacement

Since you did not include an engine model number this is my best guess.

Cam timing marks:
http://www.freeengineinfo.com/wp-includes/images/cam%20timing%20marks.JPG

Crank shaft pulley:
http://www.freeengineinfo.com/wp-includes/images/crank%20pulley.JPG

The T and the mark must be aligned at the same time the E and I marks are aligned.

If this is NOT your engine respond with the engine size please.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly
