Question about 2005 BMW 525i Touring

Where do i find sensor oil temp for bmw 525i smg(Fault code 4EFA)

The vehicle is stuck in no.1 cannot start. Fault code 4EFA keeps coming up. Cannot erase fault. 4EFA on scan tool comes up with fault code Sensor oil temp. Had the smg controller stripped and cleaned, checked all solenoids working fine, if I do get vehicle out of gear the vehicle will start and take all gears fine, also will change to other gears like nothing is wrong, and if i run up on scan tool no faults are present. But if the car is parked off for 2 days the vehicle will be stuck in gear again with same fault code. Please can someone help me I have this vehicle for over 6 months cannot seem to repair it. Initially vehicle came in for that fault and new to the bmw problems we changed the clutch kit, but problem still remained. Even went as far as checking all wiring, stripping computer box and checking for damaged tracks and dry joints even changed the salmon colored relay to no avail.

SOURCE: BMW E46 fault code P2799 - what does it mean

If is for a 3 series compact (318ti most common) then
P2799 is the intake air tem sensor 2
Which would explain the high idleing. Probably a sensor problem (bmw will charge) a competant mechanic should do it easily.

It's coincidental. Not turning over is a battery or starter Try jump starting. Your oil sensor is sensor on side/bottom of pan and is probably sticking or wires are disconnected.

I have 99 bmw 323i.i ran it hot and got prob fixed and now the eml and a triangle with circle around it comes on dash and car has no power.feels like it has a rev limiter.wats wrong with my car


have throttle body checked also the MDK throttle motor,
make sure that the dealer has followed service bulletin 12 07 99 for procedure to replace the MDK throttle motor
also have them check for codes,here are some codes,
it could be an expensive job,have them check everything,it is most likely the throttle motor,,throttle body is 600 if they switch it,dont let them do it without checking throttle motor,

My BMW 525i 2002 is not running properly you can hear the fan heaps and loud but on cold start it runs mad what could be the problem


You need to check the fault codes.
I feel that you have a sensor gone on the heat system.
probably the temp sensor for the radiator fan.
This i located on the inlet manafold.
If you disconnect it and see if the fan comes on when it is cold.
If it still comes on when you have disconnected the sensor then there is a wiring problem.
You can but a bmw diag for very cheap from ebay but makesure that you buy one that is for bmw and only bmw. many on the cheap ones out there are useless on bmw.

Code p1112 is up on a bmw 525i what do i look for


First, find the sensor. Bottom passenger side of radiator I believe. If you're lazy, just change the sensor and make sure the connector is good and tight. If not, do resistance checks on the disconnected sensor and voltage on the connected sensor, both cold and hot. The results will tell you the problem.

If the connector is loose or broken, you can get one with pigtails at your local auto parts store. Chop the old one off, splice the new one in, close up surgery, and connect.

A fault code detected form the transmission and determining cause can be from a actuator a solenoid to a fuse or a sensor.

How do I add tranny fluid to my 1992 BMW 525i


If there is a dipstick, add the proper fluid to the dipstick fillter tube. If there is no dipstick, there are drain plugs on the side that will have to be removed to check the level, at normal operating temperature.

Maybe check autozone.com for further information. There are two brands of transmission used in the BMWs of that era. ZF and GM transmissions. There are also a number of types of transmission used in the BMW 525i vehicles.

Check online for a service bulletin regarding the automatic transmission used in your vehicle, or check with the dealer.

I found a service bulletin that's in black and white, but it was not pastable to the fixya.com website.

Oil change reset for bmw 525i


You only need to hold the left odometer reset button while turning the key to position 1 (Accessory). Keep holding the button for 5 or so seconds until any of the following shows in the display: OIL SERVICE or INSPECTION with RESET or RE. Release the button and press it again for another 5 or so seconds until RESET or RE flash. While the display flashes, press the button one more time briefly. If done correctly, END SIA should show up for a few seconds. All done.

Codes 26,28 and 40 on a 94 BMW 525i


You are miss reading the code light, the codes start with a 12 and then the number. to bring them up you need to turn on the ign. press the fuel peddle to the floor 5 times quickly, the light will stay on for 5 sec. then out then on for 2.5, then off for 2.5, your codes will come next if any, there will be four set's of blinks, first should be a 1 then usually 2 bliks then a set of 1 to 8 blinks then and then a set of 1 to 8 blinks, this will give you your code, this will repeat with the next code if there is one. the codes will be 12xx, 1444 or 1000.

you might have a blown head casket try due a pressure test on each cylinder and sometimes you can take a spark plug out 1 by 1 and just tap the ket so it cranks and see if water comes out of the cylinder
