Yes, it means a lot in your case, Colin. You are gifted with that. I hope you don't give up on this site-nice to hear observations from european way. We are very "information illiterate" over here, when it comes to ...other parts of the world-nice as I can say it about my fellow citizens. I escaped to an Indian Reservation in Montana 42 years ago. Have a family and roots here now. Kind of hang around the site, i drive an '87 nissan sentra- gets 38-40 mpg. Never worked on a diesel, don't see any small ones anywhere, but recognize your advice to buy one. Good bye, and thanks for your perspective.

Can we convert my authomatic, chrysler carvan model 1997,.to diesel

Not without a lot of magic. Presuming you can find a diesel engine that will physically fit (with an adapter plate) you have one big challenge that most people miss. Diesel engines run at lower RPMs than gas engines so you'll be a real toad on the highway if you do manage to get it all to work. Besides that the computer is going to be grumpy about it. Fooling it with fake sensory input might work, but this is no simple project and I think you'll be disappointed with the results. If you REALLY want to do this, think about finding an entire engine, transaxle and everything to the hubs from a donor vehicle.

What does the trac off light on a hundai elantramean

Your car has disabled the traction control for some reason. Common reasons include

-tires spinning on ice or snow
-slipping clutch or transmission
-misfiring engine
-car is grumpy

Traction control is sort of the opposite of antilock brakes. When you push on the gas, it cuts back power to the wheels if they lose their grip.

My 2007 nissan quest is running hot when I sit at a light after hauling heavy loads or driving too long but once I start moving the temp gauge goes back to normal there is not fluid leaking check back

Check and make sure your fans are working. There's either one or two Black plastic fans mounted on your radiator make sure they are operating. They should come on if you set and let the car idle when it starts getting too hot the computer will turn the fans on, but the computer relies on the temperature sending unit if it isn't working properly, it will not turn the fans on. But most the time and the fans are working at either the fan itself or the fan relay. Hope this helps

What causes svs occasionally appear on dash on vzss holden commodore ls1 5.7 [aus] ?

If you mean its the "service" indicator its possible the exhaust sensor is telling the engine it is running incorrectly, fuel mixture wise. This is usually carried out by a Lambda unit in the headers. It may be rectified by an engine service but get someone to plug in a fault reader to get a better idea.

Faulty oil pressure sensor [ ls1 ] australia

Hi Grumpy, If there is one single cable connected to the Oil Pressure Sensor it is usually a direct connection to the instrument panel light. Basically it's a make and break pressure switch. If there more than one cable it will probably be controlled via the computer and therefore you'll need to replace it. Let me know more details? Regards John

Belt broke stering has gone tight-which belt do i need audi a4 1996

Give the model and year at an autoparts store and ask for a power steering belt. Will likely be running the waterpump and alternator too so you cant drive far because you will overheat the engine and or flatten your battery.
Loosen alternator bracket all bolts and move it to the shortest distance to the nearest pulley wheel. Slide belt around all free wheels and idlers (tensioning wheels) and move alternator bracket back to original position so belt is tight.
If you cant get the belt on belt is too short, if it is not tight with alternator about half way along the adjustment bracket belt is too long. Take it back to store, act real grumpy, try to leave with right size belt and a free gift.

We replaced iat sensor, because check engine light was on. light came back on.what else could be wrong

Catalyst fault sensor. P04200 series error or similar. This indicates an oxygen sensor or impending catalytic converter failure. Have you cleaned the throttle body and the induction system. If you have done a complete induction system cleaning then I would look at your catalytic converter oxygen sensor. This is located in the exhaust pipe. Its a single sensor system and is removed with a wrench (not welded in). You can replace it and reset fault codes. If you still have the same error after clening and clearing codes then its your catalytic converter that is on its last legs.

1999 2.0L TD Suzuki vitara the clutch pedal was low and grumpy when pressed and hard to select 1st or reverse. plenty of movement in clutch slave arm and no fluid leaks to be i removed the gearbox...

Pilot bearing (pressed into flywheel) or release bearing (presses against clutch pressure plate)?
Regardless, the repair is the same. Replace clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing & pilot bearing. Most flywheels are available or as part of a complete kit, minimum is to inspect & resurface flywheel when replacing clutch assymbly.

Over heating and loosing coolant

have you checked the thermostat mate? likely cause of all these problems, just boil it at its specified temperature and see if its any good. if you cant be bothered just buy a new thermostat and gasket (not even $5) and its even easier to fit them

good luck
