Your problem is coming from a vacuum or the crank sensor is dead. Make sure there is no leakand if the problem persist change the crank sensor

first of all your battery will be the problem.. but since u said u have tried new batteries the other causes u need to determine if its fuel or ignition problem... most of the crank start problems are caused by this. so it will solve ur problem for sure..

take a screwdriver pull off one of your spark plug wires at the plug and place the screwdriver in the boot hold it about 10 mm from the engine block and be sure to hold the handle back at the end have a friend spin it over if there is no spark you may have a bad crank sensor or coil pack

does the engine sound normal when cranked? if it sounds weak or spins faster than normal you may have a broken timing belt

there is a access valve on the fuel rail so you can check the fuel pressure if you have an appreate gauge

do you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key to the run position ? It will only run for a couple of seconds

if you dont hear the pump run try resetting the inertia switch Check your owners manual for the location

thank u

Yesterday My 1997 xj6 would not turn over, all dash lights came on but when the key was turned to start nothing happened, no click from the solenoid, the other thing I noticed was the interior lights did...

Just a shot in the dark. If your key has the magnetic chip in it, the chip may be week. Try another key if you have one.
We have a key without a chip in it we hide under the car. It will turn the ignition but will not crank(dealer told us that). One more thing the dealer who made the key told us not to try cranking the car with it because the car could think someone is stealing it and shut down till a dealer input codes to allow the car to run again.

1995 jaguar xj6 was recently in an accident. the steering and suspension was fixed on the front right side of the car. everything turns on indicating that the battery power is functioning but when it tried...

you may just have a battery with dead or dying cells...make sure your have your battery load tested making sure you have enough amps to crank the car...just because it powers up the cluster doesnt mean it has enough juice to crank the engine..

I have a jaguar xj6 3.2 liter engine that hasnt been used for like 3 - 4 years. I just recently changed the battery and would not start it cranks but does not want to start. What do you think is wrong...

The fuel has definately gone bad. The new fuels they are refining do not stay as long as the old gasoline. You will need to drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel. Once you do that, remove the sparkplugs, remove the coil wire ( to prevent a fire ) and crank the engine for about 10 seconds. Replace the spark plugs and it should fire right off after that. Let me know if you need anything else.

I need the diagram and information how to fix the top dead center for a jaguar 1997 xj6 please can some one help me .

top dead center on each cylinder is the position of the piston on the compression stroke at it's highest point. You will need to remove spark plug and disable the ignition system then install a compression tester and crank it a little at a time until there is compression then stop asap .Then remove tester and install a skinny stick like a barbecue stick and turn the engine by using a ratchet socket on the crank pulley bolt either clockwise or counterclockwise until the stick is in the highest position

When driving or sitting ticking over the car will suddenly stop,it puts on the auto gearbox light. the car will start again after a short while i have replaced the crank sensor , fuel pump all to no avail....

Hi I think your problem is connected with your Air mass meter if you look at your engine from the n/side it is situated just after the air filter box it has a spring clip at one end a flat metal thin box with a lead attached and a jubilee clip at the other end. Hope this helps my 4.0 lt x300 did the same thing

95 Jaguar XJ6 will not start and No codes present?

During cranking @crk sensor u should see up to 1 ac volt. Also if cam position sensor is @ fault u may not get a code, internal fault. Cam sensors are not availible, but rebuild kit is availible. The engine has to be set to top dead center aligning mark on crank pulley & tab aswell as mark on cam sensor itself.

1988 Jaguar XJ6 S-LINE 4.0L V-6

Fuel pump is bad or plugged fuel filter it seems. Crack the line from the filter leading towards the engine first. If gas starts squirting out fast, you have good pressue. If not the filter is plugged or a bad pump. How old is the fuel filter by chance? If original its plugged up by now
