Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My 1994 chevrolet silverado z 71 starts with no problems, however; when I place it in gear (reverse or drive) it will stall. This happens after sitting overnight for example. It will run eventually after several tries. Now it has progressed to rough idling/stalling. When I give it gas to prevent stalling sometimes it will rev high for a while ,regardless whether it is in park or in gear, until I restart it. Any suggestions? Thanks

When in gear and a/c is turned on, wants to stall

run the fault codes and check for problem idle control sensor
500 rpms are too slow for idle should be around 850 for automatic
also have the voltage regulator /alternator checked as the problem is not enough voltage ti run the car and the ac because the available voltage isn't high enough

WELL YOU HAVE NEW VECHICLE UNDER WARRANTY.I WOULD SAY BAD GAS WILL CAUSE YOUR PROBLEM.BEST TO LET DEALERSHIP CHECK IT OUT.A FAULTY EGR OR IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE WILL CAUSE ROUGH IDLING AND STALLING.BUT THOSE ARE NEW PARTS THAT STILL COULD BE DEFECTIVE.

Transmission problems

Automatic? It won't move in overdrive, drive, 2, or 1? If it won't it sounds like a burnt forward clutch. You have tried all these positions?

Car spudders when i put in gear

This is water in your fuel lines. when it was very cold, the water in the lines froze. when it melts, it runs to the injector system and causes these types of things to happen during acceleration. i would pick up some techtron. ths is good stuff. it will remove the water and, clean out the fuel system.

Differential noise when gear is place. in reverse or drive.

If it's only happening when you initially place it in those gears before going forward or reverse, your U-Joint in the rear is going bad. Replace both when you replace the one. This way you don't have to go there again when the fron U-Joint decides to go out. Cheap insurance.
