Question about 2000 Cadillac DeVille

1 Answer

2000 DTS Heats up

This car has 169,000 miles on it. It has started heating up all the time. We can't drive it more than a few miles, 4-5. It will be fine then goes up on hot in a split second. Sometimes then it will just cool right back down, just as fast. Have replaced the thermostat and heat sensors. Head gasket is blown because you can smell it through the exhaust.

Car cuts off after driving it for a while

This sounds like a bad ignition control module that heats up and looses spark, start by removing the module and having it tested at an auto parts store, note; make sure they test it a few times to allow it to heat up , good day.9_2_2012_6_14_15_pm.jpg

89 GMC 5.7L. P/U When driving after a few miles the truck dies. Let it cool down and it starts back up till it warms up then it dies again.Sometimes i go 2 miles or 20 miles just depends.

Check the primary and secondary resistance of your coil. Also check spark plug wire resistance. The coil will short out when it heats up if it is going bad.

This car keeps over heating. I have changed the thermostat, the fuse for the motor fan and the radiator cap. The car has blown three 30 amp fuses for the fan. The fluid is not coming out of the...

Recommend replacing the fan, as it should not be drawing that much current. Also make sure there is nothing blocking the airflow through the radiator. Do you have any leaks? I have a few tips here that may be worth reading: http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5929960-s_thermostat

could be low in refrigerant and as the engine heats the refrigerant pressure rises and lets the low pressure switch closes allowing the ac to run.
