Question about 1988 Cadillac Sedan DeVille
There are two belts on this motor. I need to know what the belt on the right controls. I suspect it is the water pump, but I want to be sure of it. There is no diagram sticker under the hood.

This can be a major operation. Go to public library and see if they have a chilton repair book on this car. The pump has about twenty bolts af various sizes and torx head bolts.

Hello, That belt drives the waterpump, if the belt came off then you have a problem. Either the pulley on the tensioner is locked up or the waterpump is locked up. It may have destroyed the pulley on the camshaft that drives the waterpump. Remove the black metal guard that covers the large pulley. Hope this helps to get you started.
