First you need to find the low side inlet valve. It will have a black or chrome valve cover that you just screw off. You will see two close to each other, the one you are looking for is the large one. You will need to purchase 134a freon from your local auto store or superstore. Be sure the hose has a gauge on it as overfilling is not a good thing, you could burst the system. Then you turn the air on Max ac and hook up the hose to the valve you found earlier. Then follow the directions on the can. If you need further help, please ask.

Ok, you do not need to find the compressor to charge your system, most of the time they are right on top. What your looking for are silver lines, and on these lines there are valves. You are looking for the large line, this is the low side. With your recharge kit, which autozone has for as low as 20.00, you will hook up to the low side and fill per the directions.

If you have your Recharge kit in hand (found at your local parts store. I recommend one with a guage so the system isn't everfilled) On the passenger side ov the vehicle there shoud be a part that kind of looks like a can with round ends. There should be a fitting near the can with either a blue or black dust cap that will screw off the fitting you wan. The hose with your kit will only fiot one of the fittings on your AC system and that is the low pressure line. Make sure you don't inadvertantly hook up to the high pressure line (BAD) by forcing or something. Generall once you have everything hooked up follow the directions that came with the kit many are different and have slightly different proceedures for things.

You can buy a full recharge kit complete with gauges and hoses from your local car parts store as wel as wal-mart. depending on where you go they range from 50 to 80 dollars for a kit. they come with full instructions for the do-it yourself owner. the illustrations show the high and low pressure lines and how to hook up. your impala uses a R134 refrigerant.

this is a shot in the dark since could be many things, but check the brake light switch, you have to put on brake to shift from park, had this happen on a ford ranger once, the switch worked under light pressure as far as lights were concerned but required heavy pressure to shift

SOURCE: Is the serpentine belt diagram the same for a 2006

No, not even close. I have included belt routing diagrams for both. The first one should be the SS 5.3L which has a lot more pulleys.

Hope this helps. Good luck !duckfreak871.png duckfreak871_0.png
