You could start from 9999 and go down or start from 0000 and work your way up. what i did is pop the door open with a screw driver and replace the door and lock in one shot. there a dime a dozen at the wrecker.

I bought a 92 grand prix and it has a combination lock on the glove box, how do I find out the combination?

Usually the owner never changed the factory combo (#000). I had no such luck and had to pry the latch and manually open the catch with a piece of thin metal. then I took the lock out and looked for a spaced cog on each tumbler(from the backside). After aligning them in a row, I the rotated all three together up a couple positions to align the combination to it's proper location.
