Built into the BCM. Try a reset or relearn first. Reset. turn the key on for ten minutes, off for thirty seconds. Try to start. A relearn is three times this. Try to start after the third time. Have a battery charger on it. Lights will drain the battery and you have to start over. If you still have a no start, you have to get it scanned. Code readers don't read security codes. CTD(content theft deterrent) is part of the system. Your system is called passlock III. It consist of a key with a chip, the ignition has two parts, a receiver and magnetic chip when the key is turned on, these send a signal to the BCM and if all is good. The BCM sends a signal to the PCM and the PCM lets the car start and run. I believe your BCM is under the dash on the drivers side to the left of the brake pedal. Three plugs going to it. Black, grey, and pink.

The exact spot ,huh?

first off the FSM book and alldata.com has that, and vast more.

but you asked.

first off its many parts, why not post symptoms first then ask for Vats.

not the immoblizer but just theft

this is CDC system and is not VATS

the compenents are: as follows:

The content theft deterrent (CTD) system, when armed, is designed to deter vehicle content theft by pulsing the horns and exterior lamps for approximately 30 seconds when an unauthorized vehicle entry is detected. However, the CTD System does not affect engine starting.

An unauthorized entry can be any of the following with the CTD System armed:

  • When the liftgate or liftglass has been opened without the use of the keyless entry system or without first being unlocked.

  • When any door is opened without first being unlocked using the keyless entry transmitter.

  • When the driver door is opened without being first unlocked using the driver door cylinder.

The components of the system are:

  • The body control module

  • The door ajar switches

  • The driver door key cylinder switch

  • The liftgate/liftglass ajar switch

end quote.

more quotes under what to do first

Diagnostic Starting Point - Theft Deterrent
Diagnostic Starting Point - Theft Deterrent
Begin the system diagnosis with the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle . The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information:

  • The identification of the control modules which command the system

  • The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit

  • The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status

The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.

does this help, ????

Before any trial and error u may try with this truck I strongly advise to check the fusepanel in the passenger side kickpanel for corrosion. This vehicle has sunroof leaks to inside that mess with the wiring and file panel. Take out the fuse box and look for corrosion if so. Replace. This may be your problem.

Without a key with anti-theft transponder inside your not starting anything . Your best bet call mobile lock smith . Anti-theft system ,software programmed into all module's involved in starting the vehicle .
The vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system functions are provided by the theft deterrent control module. The VTD system prevents vehicle operation if a learned Passkey III (PK3) ignition key is not used to start the vehicle. Vehicles with steering column mounted ignition switches have the exciter integral with the theft deterrent control module which is located within the steering column. Vehicles with instrument panel mounted ignition switches have exciter modules separate from the theft deterrent control module with the vehicle wiring harness connecting the two. The PK3 key has a transponder embedded in the plastic head of the key. The exciter is an antenna which is made up of wire coils which surround the ignition lock cylinder. The PCM enables engine starting when it receives a learned fuel enable signal from the theft deterrent control module. The components of the VTD system are as follows:

Brown wire is not for data , for ign. voltage . in run or acc. Red white wire gets it's B+ voltage from PWR MOD fuse 2 amp. I/P fuse box . Having the system check for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes is the first step in diagnosing a no start .

There should be a dark green wire also ,at the theft module . This is for data communications , low speed GMLAN . Do you know what GMLAN is ? GM's version of C.A.N - controller area network . If your missing this wire , no wounder it won't start .

Need the wiring schematics for a 2001 oldsmobile aurora

There are several computer modules involved in your antitheft and security system.
There is the Driver's door module, the right front door module, the right rear door module, the left rear door module, the dash integration unit, the rear integration unit, the instrument panel cluster, the theft deterrent module, the theft deterrent exciter module, the body control module and the powertrain control module. These are all networked together to form the perimeter security and anti-theft system.

Any problems you may be having with this system should be properly diagnosed. Diagnosis of this system must BEGIN with a complete scan of the onboard computer network so that fault codes can be retrieved. and the computer data checked and verified. This is the only way to correctly determine which part of the system is malfunctioning.

Wiring schematics are not designed to give you the location of these components. They only show the wiring connections that are made between them.

What exactly are you trying to fix?
