Question about 1999 Toyota 4Runner
My key gets stuck when turning off engine. There is no ''stickiness'' when starting or when shutting off, but key gets stuck at ACC position and won't make it into Lock. I have tried two different keys (including a spare that has not been used and therefore should not be worn). I can only get the key out after shifting the transmission in and out of Park - sometimes it works on the first try, sometimes it can take 50+ shifts. Is there a contact (solenoid?) in the Park position that must be hit for the key to be released? I had the problem briefly about a year ago, but it has been fine until the last week. Any suggestions?
2 things either your switch is wore out and needs replaced or the cable from park to your switch is wore out and need to be replaced could be fixed easily at a small shop even shouldnt cost over a 100.00 for both to be replaced.
