I would have thought the work would take between 30 and 60 minutes max, if your refering to the temp/pressure unit ,so get the repair shop you choose to give you their hourly charge ,most repairers would give a precise quote for this sort of job so best to contact them direct

How do I change the oil pressure sensor on 2007 Avalance

On both the V6 and V8 engines the Oil Sensor is located on top of the engine at the rear. You will need to remove the top of the intake manifold to get to it.

Cost to replace sending unit 2003 avalanche

No one knows what vehicle repair costs are

Only after a shop finds a problem & knows the solution,
can you be quoted a price that the merchant wants

Buy the part & replace yourself,if it has been properly tested
& failed a test, don't throw parts at it

Oil pressure gage does not register for about 10 sec when engine is cold

ASSUMING THE OIL IS CLEAN & FULL, SOUNDS LIKE A FAULTY SENDING UNIT. IF THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED RECENTLY, I WOULD PUT A TEMPORARY OIL PRESSURE WHERE THE SENDING UNIT IS IN THE MOTOR, SEE IF YOU GET THE SAME RESULTS.
IF IT'S THE SAME, TEST THE OIL PUMP

Oil pressure sending unit is located behind the intake, reach your hand behind the intake a little to the drivers side and you should feel the sensor

Not sure what engine you have, most 4.8, 5.3, 6.0s are WAAAY back in the middle of the engine facing the drivers side, very difficult to get to.
