A bit more info required , does the security system lock the doors as well ? is it operated by a fob that you press a button on ?if the doors uasually lock/unlock and this isn't happening as well as the non starting i would first change the battery in the operating fob as this is a common cause and easily overlooked, keep me posted if you wish

I just had this same problem with a '96 . do you have a vats key in your '94? you need to bypass the VATS system. read some of the blogs on this site and it will tell you how to do it. I fixed mine with a $2 resistor from radio shack.

SOURCE: dont know how to reset or bypass gm theft system car is not starting .It tries and quits.

this is one way to reset it :
first make sure the battery is fully charged , then do the following:
key in the ignition but do not crank the motor, just leave it at the
ignition mode for ten minutes ,then turn it off POSITION for 5 seconds then REPEAT again 2 more times. at the 3 rd time youre gonna notice the ANTI THEFT light on dash to blink. when doing the last step , remove key , inserted again and turn on motor , good luck , AJ

From my experience...
A non PATS coded key SHOULD not turn the STARTER...!

If ANTI-THEFT were invoked... you can attain a not start condition which the Owners Manual says must be cleared by the dealer.

A working PATS key should disable the anti theft... by turning the ignition on... ELSE try your other key.

The SecuriLock [PATS]
passive anti-theft system is not compatible with
non-Ford aftermarket remote start systems. Use of these systems may
result in vehicle starting problems and a loss of security protection.

How to reset the anti theft on a 03 mach 1 mustang gt

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.

How do I bypass the theft system on 98 mustang GT conv.

You have the original key? If you don't, then save up to get t to a dealer and have the lock put in and have it reprogrammed. there is no bypassing a security system. Even places that claim this, all they do is bypass part of it. Like the key. Fords are different. They car has to be programmed to the key. Instead of the key programmed to the car.

Problem is in the {PAPS) anti-theft system.car wont start

I had the same problem - My car would not start. There is a bypass button in your car that when you press and start the car at the same time the car will start. To find this button look just above the hood release lever or in that area there is the bypass button. I finally had to remove the anti-theft system and now my car starts fine. The dealer would not replace the anti-theft, but could remove it but the cost was way to high, so I went to place were they replace car radio and other similiar services and payed around $30.00 to have it remove. They also told me that I really did not need this system on my car, because you can't start the car without the key.

Hope this help.

I have a 1996 Ford Mustang GT 4.6. My car would start then turn off as soon as the theft light starting flashing, I tried disconnecting the battery, turning the key in both the passenger and driver doors,...

On the older fords the theft module has 2 plugs in them. You can disconnct one of them, I believe it is the right one , and disable the security system. Finding the module is the hard part. most are located in the middle of the dash.

You are going to have to get the security system reset. You will probably have to contact the dealership if you don't have the code.

Security system on motor lockout unable to start

1. Attempt to start the car, let it stall, but DO NOT turn the key off! Leave it in RUN.
2. Wait 10 minutes or until the Theft System light glows steady instead of blinking.
3. Do not turn the key off, but start it immediately.
4. This should reset your Passlock system.

Once done, the key is re-programmed and should allow the fuel injectors to work again. The car would start now if corrected.

In some cases, the VATS (GM'S VEHICLE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM) will re learn the code this way, and will then allow the restart, however if this does not work, then you can simply tow it to any GM vehicle dealer to have the service department re code it.

There is a permanent solution though.Adding the PLJX Self learning Bypass module (69.95) will bypass the PASSLOCK system in your vehicle for good. See this at www.PASSLOCK2.com

Good luck and hope you get your Camaro running 100% again soon, O had installed the Passlock bypass to my in-laws Gt Grand Am and so for worked like a charm.

1997 mustang starts and then dies within few seconds. Theft light is blinking. What do i need to do to replace theft device or can i bypass it so it will stay running?

Is one of your doors open? If so, that is why the "Theft" light is blinking. According to the owners manual, it blinks to remind the driver to arm the system. If you lock the doors using either the power door lock switch or via the remote, the alarm indicator should then glow steadily. If the alarm was triggered you would not be able to start the vehicle at all.
Though the symptoms can be caused by many different reasons, I had a similar problem with the same symptoms. My problem stemmed from a faulty MAF sensor. I verified this via a DTC scanner that also displays the PIDS. One of the PIDs is the MAF (LB/M) reading which was way-high out of spec. After careful inspection I noticed that one of the heating wires extending out of the MAF Sensor body actually broke loose on one side. I half-hazardly soldered it and the problem was corrected. I will replace it with a new one since I don't trust the soldering job for durability.
