Question about 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra

1 Answer

2004 mustang v6 auto won't always shift out of park

Occaisionally the car will not shift out of park to drive. It doesn't matter how hard you press the brake or the shifter handle button. You have to play with it to finally get it in gear. Any ideas? Is there an adjustment or a switch on the brake peddle?

Could be the brake switch, or the shift lock solenoid.
Both components would need to be tested. And you may be able to shift out of park if you try before you turn the key switch to the on position.

My 98 ford mustang is stuck in park

check fuses for brake shift solenoid. the brake pedal position switch is a fuse under the hood. inside the passenger compartment, check every fuse. that's a start for not having more information.

your problem lies in the internal parts of your transmission which are the clutch linings, they are already worn out and starts to slide.

1992 toyota camry v6 auto. can't move shifter. car starts and ste

Car must be on and brake pedal depressed to shift. If you have no brake lights then the car doesn't know the pedal is depressed and will not shift out of park. This car has an interlock overide on the shifter console, push it and it will come out of Park. You will need a brake light switch tho.

Gear shift interlock

It's a brake booster switch, Ford cars are notorious for this problem. It's a switch on the brake pedal that detects when your brake pedal is pressed. It's cheap and easy to fix.
