Go to the product website and it's usually under the support link. Should be able to download the manual in pdf form.

Why doesn't it start?

Is it automatic or manual assuming automatic for the moment
If it is automatic try to start it in ever gear by holding the ignition key all the way on and pulling the selector slowly between the ranges
If the starter catches and engine starts the inhibitor switch needs adjusting if not go to the next step which is for automatic & manuals. bridge the solenoid power wire with the main battery wire.
If this causes it to start with the ignition in the on position then manuals may have a faulty ignition switch automatics may have the inhibitor switch wires disconnected or a faulty ignition switch.
if the solenoid goes click click faulty solenoid or if no starter action happens then the the starter is cactus

Car not starting turn key nothing happens has power, was able to jump start the starter, tried changing around the starter fuses know change, what should I trey next??

Is it an automatic or manual transmission? Check park safety switch if automatic, or wiggle shifter to try and make switch. If manual transmission the clutch switch might not be made. Just some other ideas to check.

Starter relay

I could not find one on my 1988 Camry either but if I read the shop manual correctly, there is no starter relay for cars with an automatic transmission. Cars with a manual transmission use a starter relay. There are other obvious errors in the shop manual wiring diagrams but this is what it implies.

I changed the motor and transmission from one to the other .I went from and automatic to a 5 speed manual changed motor harness now the car will not start turn key and nothing new battiery can you give me...

If you swapped out the auto for a manual trans the car might have a neutral start safety switch preventing the starter from engaging. This would not be something you would have on a manual transmission. Instead the manual would have the Clutch Safety switch which will only allow the starter to engage if the clutch is pressed in. On an automatic it won't allow the engine to turn over unless it's in Park or Neutral. I would locate the plug for the neutral start safety switch for the old automatic transmission and bypass it.

Turn key on, but doesnt even click. battery and starter are fine

This may be due to a bad neutral safety switch, is this car automatic or manual transmission?

If automatic try to start in neutral and if manual try to locate switch on clutch pedal and use a jumper wire to jump connector for switch, NOTE; If switch is jumped car will start in gear with pedal not pushed down and car will take off so this is just as a test not a repair!!!!!, good day

Is the starter not engaging and is this an automatic? It its an automatic and not cranking over and battery and starter are known to be good. Wiggle the harness that runs to the starter. There is a problem with the seven way connector to the neutral safety switch will post both auto and manuala652566.gif

1984 dodge charger. how to i get to the starter

Starter - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
The starter is an overrunning clutch drive type with a solenoid mounted on the starter motor. Six different type starters are used on these models. Two each are built by Nippondenso, Bosch and Mitsubishi for manual and automatic transaxle applications. Removal and installation procedures are the same for all units. Some early production models may experience starter motor damage due to improper fit of the upper and lower steering column shrouds. Irregularities in the mating surface of the key cylinder area may cause the ignition key to bind, causing the starter to be continuously engaged. The condition can be corrected by loosening the shroud cover screws about 1 1 / 2 turns.
If loosening the screws does not solve the problem, the covers will have to be replaced with new parts, which are available only in black and must be painted to match interior trim.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. If equipped, remove the heat shield.
  3. On the 2.2L loosen the air pump tube at the exhaust manifold, then swivel the bracket away from the starter.
  4. Remove the wires from the starter and solenoid.
  5. Support the starter, remove the bolts and lift the unit out from the flywheel housing.
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal.
