I'm looking for known issues with this cars A/C . The problem I'm having is with this Compressor kicking off If I put it above 3 on the fan speed. Fan speed 1 it stays on 100% Fan speed 2 will flicker sometimes and the same with fan speed 3. When I put it on 4 or 5 it comes off and on and off and on, so I have to turn it back down. This has been going on since the car was brand new. Chevrolet replaces the A/C control panel I think 3 times, its never been fixed right. When this happens you can see the green A/C light come off and on and hear it outside. Any ideas, I know a fair amount about cars but I'm not real good at A/C. Thanks

The BCM controls or monitors the following circuits: the A/C compressor request, A/C cooling fan, battery rundown protection, bulb check of the instrument cluster, chimes, oil life monitoring, power door locks, horn, instrument cluster, interior and exterior lighting, ignition key sensing, parking brake sensing, anti-theft systems, retained accessory power, rear defogger, remote keyless entry, seat belt sensing and the wiper/washer systems.
on your vehicle it is a known problem and caused by a bad connector.
Hi can you in gage your 4wd if not then we have to find out y not before doing anything else solenoid on right side of front diff are known to give issues pull it out and see if it works could be a little oil coming so have a catch pail ready
That model was known for lock cylinder ans ignition switch problems for the no start and theft lock concern. The chime issue could be a problem or not check in your owners manual for chime sounds.I remember when working on these cars they have different chime sounds for different selected options that could be changed and I also had some problems with the BCM body control module causing some weird issues with these models.
Several things ... best guess, in order: 1. (very likely) Radiator fan is not blowing (turn on car and a/conditioner.
When compressor kicks in, the radiator fan must blow). If it ims not blowing,
the radiator fan motor may be burned out ($40). 2. Check / replace "cooling fan" fuse ($1) and / or "cooling fan" relay switch
($7). 3. Could be (not likely) thermostat sticking shut. Replace thermostat ($20) 4. Could be radiator hose collapse (not very likely) ($18) 5. Radiator clog or hose leak (possible) 6. Head gasket broken (not likely unless you don't fix current problem) ($150)
The more detail of the symptoms, the better we can assist you.
Hope this helps!
If its blowing out all vents when just set on front, then either the control panel is bad, or a actuator that controls the vent doors is bad. Most of them or on vacuum, so id lean more to the panel. The antifreeze problem might be the one everyone but me seems to have. There is a leak in the intake manifold gaskets. Chevy I think had a recall on it or something. Its a wide known issue. If you look underneath the manifold where the injectors are you may see some fluid. The other options are just hoses, that leak when they get hot and expand. Or you may be burning it in the combustion chamber.
