What if a scantool OBD2 could not connect to ACU (no communication)

You have OBD1. OBD2 started around 92 depending on the manufacturer. Under the dash there is a blue plug with only two wires, take a small piece of wire or paper clip and plug into both leads. Then turn the car to the run position, but don't start. The check engine lite will blink slow for the 10 space fast for the 1 space. then there will be a long gap and if you have more then one code the flash sequence will be different if it starts to repeat the same sequence you have gotten all the codes.

look for problem connections in the wiring harness ( loose ,not connected properly, corroded pins, water)

go to oreilly auto parts, advanceauto parts, or even auto zone. ask someone to scan ytour vehicle with the obd2 scantool. its free at either one of these stores

if you replaced the sensors, you have to clear the codes with a obd2 scantool, otherwise its still gonna show a fault.

Up to 99 or 2000 model maxima's arent OBD II. There is a OBD I connector located behind the fuse box cover inside the car. It is a grey connector.

Computer connection - codes?


in 1993, the computer systems were obd 1. which generally needed battery power to run scanner. 1996 up is obd2 and powers up scanner through data connector. not sure what kind of scanner you have. is it powering up ok and not communicating or cant get scanner to turn on?
