Question about 2000 Nissan Altima

While driving gauges all freeze or drop to zero?

Is there a recall for this issue as i have seen many complaints about this or is there a fix for this

Ask a dealer about recalls

Those are the folks that take care of that

There is a fix for almost everything

Finding someone who know how to diagnose
& find a problem & solution, may never happen your way,
unless you go to lots of shops & ask the questions

They won't give out much, if they even follow the conversation

Had the S49'recall done on my grand Cherokee and since then I have a random miss like it missing a gear. Zero info when you hook it up to the scan gauge. Hearing a lot of issues from this recall?

never do recalls until, one year later.... why be a guinea pig
no year car.
no engine stated, gas or diesel. (i guess diesel)
no transmission type.?
no country stated, and a nebulas recall,?
first find cause
then fix it
then lay blame. (always last , based on facts and data)
win/ win.'

try to elaborate this..... define miss
"since then I have a random miss like it:

While drivingoil pressure is at 40. after half hour of highway driving oil pressure drops to 0 or below. i stop and restart oil pressure comes back. ideas?

Could be the Oil Pressure Sending Unit. I do recall GMC having issues with the instrument cluster on 2003's. Try slapping the dash when the gage reads zero.

Mustang GT 2002 oil pressure gauge dropping to zero

The first order of business is to check the oil pressure while the gauge is not working. If the oil pressure is fine and the system reading zero, there is a fault in the oil pressure switch circuit. Often, the problem is related to the oil pressure switch itself. I have seen cases, too, where the oil pressure switch fails internally, causing oil to push past the seal and into the wiring connection causing a short. The wiring harness has a single pin.

Another area, though it fails much less often, is a break in the wiring between the oil pressure sender/switch and the ECM module (located in the right passenger footwell) and between the ECM and the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster may also have a short, though the sender is the most likely issue here.

2006 Mercury Milan, I took our for a drive the other day. When I got home, the key wouldn't come out of the ignition. This is the second time this has happened in less than a year. I called the Service...

Mercury won't recall it because it's a low % of failures. You might have seen others with the same issue but the # of complaints vs # of sales dictates a recall. To help possibly solve the issue is to get "powdered graphite" like used in frozen door locks and give a couple of "spurts" in ignition switch. MAKE SURE IT'S POWDERED GRAPHITE and not liquid. You can get small tube at a parts store or any good locksmith.

Anyone know what the TSB is for the 2003 Jetta coolant temperature sensor? My gauge will read normal (190) then drop to zero then pop up to normal as I drive. Perhaps the TSB is a "silent recall"? Do I...

Go here and enter your vehicle year make and model and see if there are any recalls for it. If not, you may have a problem with your coolant temp sensor harness. Get inside the vehicle once it's been warmed up and have someone wiggle the temp. sensor wire and see if it re-creates the problem. if so, your harness needs replacement.

2005 Nissan Pathfinder Gas guage malfunction

I just fixed this problem last weekend in my 2005 Pathfinder. It's not the fuel sending unit itself, it's the fuel level sensor that is attached to the sending unit. I'm not a mechanic, but know a little about fixing vehicles and I did it myself in about 2 hours. The dealer may tell you they need to replace the whole fuel sender, but that is false. The sensor costs $80-90 from the dealer or from Courtesy Nissan in Texas. They will ship it to you. You don't need a "special nissan tool" to remove the sending unit, unless they call a hammer and screwdriver "special". It's a simple locking ring. You could probably have any shop do it for $100 labor if you supply the part. You can find instructions if you search Nissan forums. The Frontier has the same problem (since it's the same truck with a different body) so look in Frontier forums as well. Good luck!
