Question about 1996 Lincoln Town Car

1 Answer

I have same prob. on a 1998 Town Car.Stays on heat when AC on.

I beleive I have found the answer. Sevo motor on heat exchange flap continues to turn in one direction. The flap has a little attachment coupling on top of the flap that the motor fits into. The housing is split at the attachment point, thus allowing the motor to continuosly in one direction. Will not close heater duct. Dealer only. Must buy center portion of upper duct. flap is not sold seperatly. $225.00-$300.00. And you do have to remove dash. Good luck.... manwhofishes

The AC works great but the heater will not put out heat. But the heater hoses shoe 140-160 degree heat. What might be the problem??

Well Kenny, I will say this, I found you on the web pretty quick, but have not found a definite answer for you yet. I will say that I found something that may put you in the right direction. On the Fixya site there appears to be a possible answer for you.

I will continue to look for you.

96 lincoln town car with climatecontrol does notturn off heat

The blend door actuator motor is located under the front center of the dash at the bottom of the windshield. It does require the removal of the dash. I have changed several of them myself. You can usually tell if it is bad by a clicking sound coming from that area of the dash. It is an electrical motor and it is a plastic gear about the size of the tip of your little finger that causes the failure.
