This can be caused by a leaking pressure regulator in the engine. The injectors will cause this code to show if they are leaking. Does the vehicle start ok? Does it flood, you will smell gasoline if it does. Also is there any black smoke coming from tail pipe? More likely than not this is a problem with the injection system.

Check the gas, could be water in it or drive the car with a fuel pressure tester connected to it and watch to see if you lose pressure.
Normal pressure while driving is about 30 to 40 psi

Cylinder # 3 has a misfire...#1) Defective coil on plug or the spark plug itself...#2) Contaminated fuel injector...See drawings below...The coil pack is the smaller of the two and sits to the rear of engine it is the most probable cause...Although the spark plug or the ignition wire (connection between plug and coil pack) could be at fault...so, before you invest in a new coil pack...Remove from both ends the wire from #3 and switch it with #2...if the fault code changes to p0302 that wire is bad...next Install a new set of plugs....Fault still present? replace the coil pack.....Unless recently changed new plugs and wires are a plus even if fault remains...saailer

Sport Wrangler 6 cyl. Engine lite flashing. Diagnostic tool lists code PO305. I looked it up and it states misfire in cyl #3 & 5. How do I fix this?

Check the plugs, wires and coil pack for these two cylinders. Most lilkely it is the coil pack, they work for 2 cyclinders at a time. cylinder motors use 3 and 8 cyl moters use 4 of these. If your und=sure where the coil pack is, follow it backwards from the spark plugs.

Po303 code. I put new spark plugs in but still have misfire code.

A code P0303 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plug or wire
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Running out of fuel
  • Poor compression
  • Defective computer

Possible Solutions: If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Hope helps (remember to rate this answer).

The problem is one of your coil packs is bad. Don't throw money into sensors, they are false codes. The problem is coil packs.

2000 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L ECM replacement

well you wont need to change the ecm if its not burt yet.
try correcting the short first before you do burn out the comp.
if this is the model with the in line coil pack you will need to make sure the heater hoses are not drooping down on the pack.use wire straps to raise the heater hoses just off the pack.you may want to remove the pack and put some dielectric lube on the spark plug boots so it goes down all the way on the spark plug.when the plug miss fires and causes the engine to stumble the comp raises the idle to compesate.then the plug fires again and the idle surges.
hope this helps
