Could be a heater core problem wouldn't recommend the cement check for loose or cracked hoses as well going into firewall...heater core may be bad.

i agree with above poster.. but as an extra option you can change your heater hoses around and bypass the heater core if necisary.. getting a shop to change one of those will most likely cost you your first born... good luck

How do I fix this coolant leak?

This could be a hose or a radiator leak.

And antifreeze is supposed to be bright green or pink for a car of that age. Brown is never a good color for antifreeze--it means car was run with too little antifreeze for a significant period of time and the block and water pump has rusted internally. This is not a threat to the engine block, but it will kill the water pump eventually.

Find the leak, and take appropriate action--if it's a hose, you can replace that yourself and save $. If it's the radiator or even heater core (not likely), it's a trip to the shop for sure, unless you are able to handle the degree of difficulty that goes along with replacing a radiator (about 6-7 on a 10-scale, and usually a major hassle). A radiator shop can fix the leak, saving you new radiator $.

Get the coolant pressure tested, its definitely leaking coolant. You will need to get the coolant running line.

Pressure test will help you to know from where exactly coolant/refrigerant is getting leaked.

IF YOU GOT TOO MUCH WATER IN COOLANT SYSTEM AND DONT HAVE 50 / 50 MIXTURE OF ANTIFREEZE AND WATER. WATER WILL EVAPORATE BOIL AWAY.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS LOOK AT TOP AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSES LEAKS, CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND BOTH RADIATOR CONTAINER AND RADIATOR CORES LEAKING. CHECK WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE. IF LEAKING WATER NEED REPLACING, CHECK ENGINE CRANKCASE ANTIFREEZE WILL LEAK IN CRANK CASE OR LEAK IN THE INTAKE GASKET COOLANT WILL BURN WITH FUEL.MANY THINGS WILL CAUSE COOLANT LOST.

Coolant leaking. Can i fix it myself?

Just find the leak. Do you know where the leak is at? Check all end hoses. Make sure clamps are on tight. Leaking coolant on the wires cause major problems.

How to fix a coolant on a car

How to Fix an Engine Coolant Leak Your car's coolant system consists of various components. The water pump, shaft seal, radiator, heater cores, freeze plugs, hoses and the engine itself are areas where leaks can occur. The solution for fixing a leak depends on where it's located. Read on to learn how to fix an engine coolant leak. jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Moderately Challenging Instructions
  1. 1

Locate the leak. This can be difficult, so take your time. Some leaks, such as those in the freezer plugs, are behind the engine mount or other components. You may need to inspect the car from underneath to detect this type of leak.

  2. 2

Buy an anti-leak product and add it to the coolant to fix small radiator leaks. You can find this product at any auto shop for around $10. It's effective in 80 percent of minor leaks.

  3. 3

Patch a small radiator leak by soldering or using a high-temperature epoxy. This is another solution to fix a small leak. Other options are to have it fixed at a specialty shop or simply to replace it. If the heater core is leaking, replacement is the best choice.

  4. 4

Fix any cracked, busted or leaking hoses by replacing them. Simply remove both clips on the hose, pull off the hose and replace it with the new one. Make sure to put the clips back on.

  5. 5

Remove a cracked reservoir, clean it and dry it up. Apply plumber's goop, which is a type of glue, and reinstall it. If replacement is necessary, ensure that you route the hoses correctly from the radiator to the reservoir. Additionally, it's important that they are free of kinks so the coolant can flow freely.

Coolant is leaking and draining from the coolant

Hi:
If all of your coolant is leaking out in 5 minutes, you should get that fixed before you drive it much, as you are risking severe damage to the engine if it overheats. Since you see coolant leaking onto the ground, the first step is to narrow down the source of the leak. Basically all you have is the radiator, the hoses, and the engine. If the radiator or hoses are the source of the leak, all that needs to be done is to replace the leaking part. if it is leaking from the engine, the most likely part is the waterpump, which is a bit more compicated to change.

Hopefully you can get some eyes on the car after it is filled up with coolant, and narrow down the cause of your leak!
