Question about 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

1 Answer

99 Lumina 3.1 L service engine icon stays on. How do I reset it?

The engine seems to be working fine but the "service engine" indicator won't go out whenever the ignition is turned on, engine running or not.
The oil, filter, & breather was changed 2 weeks ago but the light stays on. Is there a way to reset it?

There is a reason that the light is on. You should check to see what code or codes you have and go from there.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Reset 2007 6.0 Lumina service kilometer display

please follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
  • 1 Open the hood of the Lumina.
  • 2 Locate the negative battery terminal on the battery. This has a black wire and is identified by a negative "-" stamped on the battery housing.
  • 3 Disconnect the negative battery terminal using a box-end wrench and isolate it so it does not come back into contact with the negative battery post.
  • 4 Leave the negative battery terminal disconnected for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • 5 Reconnect the negative battery terminal and recheck the service-engine-soon light by starting the car.

How do I reset the change oil soon message in my 1998 Chevy Lumina after changing the oil?

This is done by turning the key on engine off and fully pressing the gas pedal to the floor sloowly three times within 5 seconds, the light will blink and go off then turn the key off for 3 sec and start engine, light should be off if not repeat steps. hope this helps.

1998 Cheverolet Lumina, ''service engine soon'' and hard gear shift

I doubt the two problems are connected. I would try a new gas cap and see what happens since it runs fine. The service engine soon light won't reset on it's own right away.

Service engine code indicates EGR valve.

You could have a restriction in the egr ports. remove the valve. Plug the holes, start engine. 1 hole will be blowing out exhaust, the other will have large vacuum.
