Question about 2000 GMC Jimmy
I had a similar problem. I found that the new alternator was defective. Please have it tested, or get a digital multimeter to see how many volts is being put out.

Charging voltage to battery should be;
13.6 to 14.2 - the lower the voltage the higher the charging amps i.e:
13,6 = 55 amps
14.2 1209 amps
