im not for sue how many but u need to take it to autozone if u have one where u live they will tell u where it is the most comon one if u have straight eguast is the one right in front of the cats if its that one u should notice a stall out every time u fill up from below empty on ur gauge

I believe you may have three (3) O2 sensor, (2) of the sensor is on ether side of the exhaust down pipe and some times called up stream O2 sensor, the third O2 sensor know to some as the down stream O2 and is after the Catalytic converter.
The up stream O2 monitors the left and right side banks and sends signals to the ECM to make the adjustments to the injectors to keep the proper air/fuel ratio. 
The down stream O2 monitors the catalytic converter and sends signal to the ECM if the catalytic converter has gone bad.
Good luck and hope this helps. If you get it scanned at Auto Zone, they should be able to let you know which O2 has gone bad so as to not change all three. You could always check the wire harness to the down stream O2 for corrosion. Keep me posted

if u have one oxygen sensor then u need to take a deep look at the bottom of ur car it will be somewhere at the Exhaust pipe if u have a catalytic converter then u will have two oxygen sensors one before the catalytic converter & the other will be after the catalytic converter. Note: the catalytic converter is located at after a little bit of beginning in Exhaust pipe.

Where is the o2 sensor on a 2004 blazer located


Removal & Installation

Raise and support the vehicle.
Support rear of the powertrain frame.
Remove four rear frame bolts.
Lower the frame no more than 73.2 mm (3 inches).
Disconnect the rear oxygen sensor electrical connector.
Remove the rear oxygen sensor from the rear exhaust manifold.

To install:

Install the rear oxygen sensor in the rear exhaust manifold. Tighten the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) sensor to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Connect the rear oxygen sensor connector.
Raise the frame.
Install the four rear frame bolts. Tighten the frame bolts to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
Lower the vehicle.

Location of oxygen sensor on 2004 blazer check engine light keeps coming on. Replaced sensor no change. At bank 1 sensor is not connected when tested.


Removal & Installation

Raise and support the vehicle.

How do you fix the oxygen sensor for 1996 ford explorer

NOTE: If excessive force is needed to remove heated oxygen sensor, lubricate heated oxygen sensor with Penetrating Lubricant prior to removal.

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor from engine control sensor extension wiring.
  3. On 3.0L, 4.0L and 5.0L raise and support vehicle.
  4. Remove heated oxygen sensors from exhaust manifold, inlet pipe, or dual converter Y pipe, using an Oxygen Sensor Wrench.
Installation
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  2. Apply a light coat of anti-seize compound to thread.
  3. Tighten heated oxygen sensors to 36-46 Nm (27-33 lb-ft).

I have a 07 f150 4.6L V8 and I need to replace the Bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor but cant figure out which sensor it is since there are 4 sensors. Where can I find a picture of the location?


Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S)- The Bank 1 Sensor 1 tells me that it's an upstream O2 sensor. The larger the number the further down the line of the exhaust it is. Removal & Installation 4.2L Engine ford-04-42-2750.gif
To Remove:
  1. Raise and safely support vehicle.
  2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  3. Detach electrical connector from right inner fender splash shield (if necessary).
  4. Remove right inner fender splash shield (if necessary).
  5. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  6. Remove heated oxygen sensor.
To Install:
  1. Apply anti-seize lubricant to heated oxygen sensor threads.
  2. Install heated oxygen sensor. Torque to: 34 ft-lbs (46 Nm)
  3. Connect heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  4. Install right inner fender splash shield (if necessary).
  5. Attach electrical connector to right inner fender splash shield (if necessary).
  6. Connect battery ground cable.
  7. Lower vehicle.

  1. Raise and safely support vehicle.
  2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  3. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove heated oxygen sensor.
To Install:

  2. Install heated oxygen sensor. Torque to: 34 ft-lbs (46 Nm)

prev.gif next.gif Oxygen Sensor I think that bank1 sensor1 stands for the upstream o2 sensor vs. the sensor2 which is the downstream o2 sensor. Both the 4 cyl. and 6 cyl. employ 2 o2 sensors.

If you get it wrong, changing both might be a good idea.
Removal & Installation 2.4L Engine NOTE: These engines use 2 heated oxygen sensors.
Upstream HO2S1 To Remove:
NOTE: If the engine temperature is lower than 120 °F (48 °C), the HO2S1 sensor may be difficult to remove. Excessive force could possibly damage the threads in the exhaust manifold.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
  4. Using an oxygen sensor removal tool carefully remove the heated oxygen sensor.
To Install:
  1. Clean the threads in the exhaust manifold with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap.
  2. If reusing the original sensor, coat the sensor threads with an anti-seize compound. New sensors come treated with anti-seize compound on the threads and do not require an additional coating.
  3. Install and tighten the sensor 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  4. Connect the electrical connector and install the wiring on the bracket.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
Downstream HO2S2 To Remove:
NOTE: If the engine temperature is lower than 120 °F (48 °C), the HO2S 2 sensor may be difficult to remove. Excessive force could possibly damage the threads in the exhaust pipe.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oxygen sensor.
  4. Use an oxygen sensor socket to remove the sensor from the catalytic converter.
To Install:
  1. If reusing the original sensor, coat the sensor threads with an anti-seize compound. New sensors come treated with anti-seize compound on the threads and do not require an additional coating.
  2. Install and tighten the sensor 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
3.3L & 3.8L Engines NOTE: These engines use 2 heated oxygen sensors.

  1. Remove the battery and battery tray.
  2. Disconnect the speed control vacuum harness from servo.
  3. Remove the cruise control servo and bracket. Place it out of the way.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oxygen sensor.
  5. Use an oxygen sensor socket to remove the sensor.
To Install:
  1. Clean the threads in the exhaust manifold with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap.
  2. If reusing the original sensor, coat the sensor threads with an anti-seize compound. New sensors come treated with anti-seize compound on the threads and do not require an additional coating.
  3. Install and tighten the sensor 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  4. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor and install the sensor on the bracket.
  5. Install the cruise control servo.
  6. Install the battery tray and battery.

you need to borrow the oxygen sensor wrench from autozone or whereever you bought the sensor. Section 03-14: Engine Controls, Electronic 1996 Taurus, Sable Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED Description Tool Number Oxygen Sensor Wrench T94P-9472-A Removal and Installation Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 . On 3.0L (4V) engine remove cowl extension and right side of leaf screen. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) (9F472). Do not remove harness connectors from the brackets. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 . they just unscrew from the exhaust pipe.

Removal and Installation
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. On 3.0L (4V) engine remove cowl extension and right side of leaf screen.
  1. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) (9F472). Do not remove harness connectors from the brackets.
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. NOTE: If excessive force is needed to remove a heated oxygen sensor, lubricate the heated oxygen sensor with penetrating oil prior to removal.

    Remove heated oxygen sensors from exhaust manifolds (9430) using Oxygen Sensor Wrench T94P-9472-A.
  1. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Apply a coating of anti-sieze compound to threads of heated oxygen sensor. Tighten heated oxygen sensors to 34-46 Nm (26-34 lb-ft).

At the shop we test the oxygen to determine which one is bad.
1. Disconnect the the negative of the battery cable.
2.Disconnect the wiring harness from the oxygen sensor.
3. Remove the oxygen sensor.
To install new oxygen sensor.
1. clean the thread on the mount.
2. install oxygen sensor.
3. connect wiring harness
4. connect battery cable.
