SOURCE: car dies when driving, check engine light comes on.

There is a good chance it could be your fuel pump , however if the check engine light is coming on and the dealer cant tell you what is wrong , try a different dealer or another shop. Second opinions never hurt.

SOURCE: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Stalls out, engine quits running

since its a 1997 your jeep has EFI, electronic fuel injection. The most probable reason for your troubles would be the injectors or a problem with the computer controling them, not allowing enough gas to be pushed into the cylinder causing stalling or lack of power, also too much gas iin the cylinder can lead to back firing and stalling. This would also explain the reason it takes so long to start back up some times, all the excess gas in the cylinder is flooding the motor and u have to wait till the gas disipates till the engine will turn over.

SOURCE: 1997 Mazda dies when warm - runs smooth when cool

possibly a bad module------cracked---or???? In any case you may get expansion as engine compartment warms up----module shuts you down. Sometimes really hard to diagnose and just putting in a new module is "spendy"----especially if it turns out not to solve the problem!

SOURCE: Replace muffler, not the catalytic converter which started to rattle. Stop running, will crank but will not start. can it be the catalytic converter.

if the converter is rattlin then it needs to be replaced because the element inside is broken. if the jeep still does not run try removing the catalytic converter to see if the restriction is too much. should start if the converter is restricted. if it doesnt maybe its whatever caused the converter to go bad in the first place

I have an 02 ZR2 blazer it starts n runs idles smooth but blogs down when u give it gas lack of power I have replaced maf sensor n new fuel pump new plugs wires n rotor but still not running right.

Check for a restricted exhaust. Could be the catilitic converter, a bent pipe or a collapsed baffle in the muffler. The engine needs to breath just like we do. It sounds like you are getting enough air in at idle and under load, but if that extra air can't get back out from being restricted, then it will bog down. It's like if you were to try jogging and only being able to breath out through a straw. That's what I would check before replacing a bunch of expensive sensors.

1997 Chevy Camaro V6 I have posted about this once already today but I want to give more information and hopefully a more accurate response. The vehicle is under reving while idling in drive or any other...

A flashing check engine light indicates active engine misfire. There should be codes set for these conditions. It could be low fuel pressure, but if you have not replaced the spark plugs and wires, I would look there. Failed ignition coils or ignition module can be culprits. Also plugged exhaust (catalytic converters) could be to blame as well. To test the catalytic converters, remove the oxygen sensors between the engine and converters and go for a drive. You can also unbolt the converters and run open exhaust. It will be loud, but if performance improves and normalizes, your exhaust is plugged and you will need to replace the converters.

2003 Mitsubishi Diamante, power loss

If your car idles and runs smooth after everything you've done, I would almost say clogged catalytic converter just by the power loss.

My lexus ls 400 has no power but it is running. What's the problem.

The first thing to have checked is the fuel pressure, low pressure kills the power.

you might have a plugged up catalytic converter, check and see how much pressure is coming out of the exhaust pipe, does it feel like the air is flowing out the exhast pipe smooth or just a little bit. you may have to take it to a muffler shop to have them check the pipe pressures before and arter the converter..

98 gmc 2500 backfiring in exhaust

your catalytic converter/s is/are plugged.
there is 2 of them coming out of both banks ( sides) of the motor. they join to one main pipe that goes to the muffler at the back of the vehicle.

you can take it to a muffler shop and they can test the pressure in your cat. converters for cheap or free. that will tell you if they are wrecked or not.

i would get it checked out asap because if your cats are the problem they well break your o2 sensors for the cats.

if you need to fix them you can do it cheeply by drilling holes in the cats to let the air out.

hope this helps

My landcruiser runs fine at idle and whilst been revved stationaty, but under load it seems to starve for fuel this only started yesterday ... i'm looking for possible causes .. thanks

many things will feel the same when driving. if the lack of power is smooth without a shacking-missfire.remove the air cleaner element and see how it performs this way ,you could have a blockage in there ,ihave found mouse nests blocking this air pasage. you could have low fuel supply, plugged fuel pressure, low fuel pressure, bad fuel pump, you could have a plugged catalytic converter, this usually shows up as slower and slower speed when accelerateing at full throttle but will gain soom acelleration when backing of the gas.if its missing ,lock at the spark plugs, wires or fuel injectors.
